Not stayed here but called in last year as my friends where staying there, on face value it seems very nice. Maybe they will sort the air con out soon. Hope so.

Thomas Cook won't admit there is a problem, they just say that it states centrally controlled in the brochure,it also states "cool and spacious" interior, there is no aircon in any of the public areas or in the dining room.We complained but got nowhere, although the rep said we would be compensated, customer services were no help at all.If you are going early or late season it will probably be okay,I would not return in August if it was offered free.Sorry, really hope they have sorted it for you though.

Really grateful for the replies, one more question is do they provide beach towels?
Only got 15kgs luggage allowance so not having to take towels would be a bonus
cheers debs

I think that I may come across as being rather critical of this hotel but we found the aircon so poor that the holiday was so much less than it should or could have been. When we complained to the rep he should have told us that there were fans available to hire from the supermarket ,we would willingly have paid to be more comfortable. We prefer the beach to the pool and we found that was great, sunbeds were free, 5 lira for 2 mattresses if required, and an umbrella for every 2 beds,no complaints there. We always found something we liked at meal times,so again no complaints, the entertainment was not very good but we didn't want to stay at the hotel every evening anyway so that didn't bother us too much. All the manager needed to do to make our holiday 100% better was to put the aircon on for much longer as we don't want to be out of our room just after 7am every day,a lie in would be nice occasionally and we would have preferred to stay in our room a little longer in the evening instead of rushing to shower and dress before the aircon went off at seven. The timing of the aircon in the afternoon was 3-7 and I think most guests would have preferred it to have been 4-8 or even 5-9.
I read on another forum that the bigger rooms sometimes have better aircon.
Towels were ,I believe,10 lira deposit each and could be changed at reception after 9am,every day if required.

Oscarnorwich is correct in saying about towels. 10 Lira deposit, changed everyday after 9am and you get your money back at the end of your holiday when you hand your towels in. As you say Debs, 15kg doesn't go far if you have to take your own towels. We made that mistake the first year we went. Also, the entertainment isn't that good, which is why we are go out every night, plus the fact, we like to mix with the locals. They are really lovely people. You will be absolutely fine at this hotel...don't worry.

Debs14,why not check reviews on other holiday forums, also ask more questions as only people who have stayed in this hotel in August can tell you what it is like that time of the year. You may also get some advice as to which room to ask for, some rooms may have more efficient aircon units than ours. You may also find out where to hire fans if your room is not cool enough.

I agree with Starchild. I've been to Icmeler five times now and the last time went to the L'Etoile (I'm the Scottish friend she mentioned) on Starchild's recommendation. I can't comment on the air conditioning as I went in October and it was wetter and cooler than normal this year.

As Star states I'm quite fussy with hotels and found this one to be generally very good. I think the rooms Star mentioned had a nicer outlook than mine - 511 - but mine had a double bed which is a real rarity when you book as a single person. It made a huge difference and I'd be more than happy to go back again (will be going in October again if my boss lets me have the time!)

The hotel is very centrally placed, the rooms and public areas were immaculate. The food was buffet but decent quality buffet - the only gripe was the queue for the main course at dinnertime but then people do tend to do that as soon as the dining room opens!. Lots of tables - I never had to wait for one. The staff are very friendly and attentive - the tables were cleared quickly and the dining room kept very clean. The desserts were wonderful - as always in Turkey.

I can't comment on the pool as I don't swim at all. But the pool area always looked clean and was well used. The rooms all seem to have safes and if you want to phone home, there are payphones (phone card type) directly outside the main entrance.

It makes a big difference being able to get beach towels for a small deposit. While I don't swim, I do like to use the loungers or go on boat tours. The towels can be exchanged every morning so no having to worry about laundering them. If you don't go AI, there are plenty of nice restaurants nearby. Even if you do go AI - I like a change now and again and Cupid's, directly underneath the hotel, was great as was the Mandalin, just a couple of minutes away.

I think it's easy to find niggling little things about any hotel, especially in high season. But generally, any minor problems are far outweighed by the location, helpful staff, plentiful and tasty food and cleanliness.

Watch this and other forums when the season starts and then ask about rooms, you may find somebody who had a room where the aircon was good and then you can ask for that room.At least by warning you of the problem that occurred in August last year with the heat you will know that there are fans available to hire.We didn't know until the last day of our holiday, the rep was useless, didn't help at all and the new manager wouldn't listen ,with any luck there may be a different manager this year or T----- C--- may have stepped in and demanded changes.

Thanks for all your tips its much appreciated, will look into hiring fans if air con not up to scratch. Not having to take towels will be a big bonus especially for my 16 year old daughter and her friend more clothes room lol.
We are taking friends to icmeler for their 1st visit to icmeler and i hope they love it as much as we do,we were hooked on our 1st visit in 2004.
Our favourite restaurant is the Lighthouse though i have never had a bad meal in all the times we have been, slow service occasionally but thats the turkish way sometimes
Well if i'm lucky and my numbers come up tonight i could make icmeler my permanant home !!!!

Have you got a family room booked or a separate room for your daughter and her friend cos somebody said on one of the forums that family rooms are in the annexe and have individually controlled air con units.I wanted to ask for one of them but there was only two of us so not allowed .
Not having to take beach towels is such a bonus, too.Next time I think I'll get 2 each, one to lay on and one to use.
