Slide for the kids, nice pool bar, 10 minute walk to centre of town so a 3 minute walk to the beach from there, a couple of cooking rings in the kitchen as per most apartments in Turkey and yes balconies

We were in the Ekinci in 2008 and couldn't wait to get back this year. We enjoyed our stay but found that they had changed for the worse and that the owners were very much on the grab. This included subtle and not too subtle pressure to dine in the Bahama restaurant and to buy tickets for the Turkish night and to attend the pathetic karaoke night. We did neither, but found that the restaurant was excellent, with superb food that was as good as, if not better than the "big" names in the centre and great value for money. The waiters were as good as the food apart from one who became quite aggressive with those who would not commit to the night time entertainment. One refusal from us was enough and he never hassled us again and we can't think why :!:

That is the positive, the negative is the cheapness of the complex, we paid £82.61 for the two weeks, that now attracts a large percentage of single parents who are happy to allow the staff to baby sit or let their older offspring run wild around the pool area and let the staff mop up after them. Wonder how their social workers feel :?: Notices that state that sun beds can not be be reserved for more than an hour are a waste of time are not applied and we daily witnessed beds with towels vacant for most of the day, obviously with their owners on trips or at the beach

OK we got it was cheap, but when you add being allocated a top floor apartment under the explosive water tank, when you had contacted Mehmet and Osman and requested ground or first floor, you feel that you have a right to a moan. We got a move four days after complaining to a ground floor apartment beside the kitchen. We swapped Hades for Hell and would have been better in Hades. There are other apartments to avoid, especially the ones beside the lane in to the complex where there is a wee yappy dog that barks day and night and caused countless people to move. These apartments are excellent but not the dog :!:

I expect that this post will be pulled, but as Rabbie said"facts are chiels that winna ding", let the truth be told. Sorry, we won't be back, ven at £82.61.

Hi weetoony we totally agree with you. We stayed at ekinci last year and really enjoyed it so we booked this year to find it very disapointing. The rooms were dirty never mopped the whole two weeks we were there, staff were annoying and hasseling you the whole time while trying to relax to spend your money at night with them, they even shouted at our son across the pool when they were going out at night and it wasnt nice what they said, and yes that DOG!!!!!!! i could have stranggled it, why do they let it out so early in a morning and leave it to bark. So sorry ekinci i will not be giving out pleased reports to people on the forum and will not be returning ever again

I have never been to these apartments, but I can understand why apartment owners hassle. After speaking to the owner of the Kurt Apartments he says travel agents offering cheap accom are to blame. I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THIS IS NOT A DIG AT ICR AS HE WAS NOT MOANING ABOUT YOU. It is another travel agent offering cut price accomodation, and by the time they have took there comison the owner of the apartments is getting about 40quid would you rent a room out in your house for 2 weeks for that. So if they don't get you to spend money in the bar, then they have basically let you stay for nothing or made very little. You get what you pay for, we now book privately where we stay and never get any hassle.

By the way this is not an attack at anyone I am jsut saying I can understand apartment owners predicament. They need the travel agents to send them customers, but there are CERTAIN travel agents who are exploiting them.

can anyone who knows the Ekinci Palace tell me if you are allowed to use the pool ( slide ) if you are a non resident.
We passed this place most days this year, Yet we never went in.
Is the slide open all day or just at certian times, and do the staff frown uppon non residents.

Many thanks,

Garry.

Hi Garry,
The slide is open from 12 onwards and judging by some of the people there this year they'll let anyone in that has a wallet. Well, that's except the guy who had a massive bust up with his family, was barred and chucked off site, and proceeded to camp outside the main door for the next 4/5 days. nice family holiday.

We stayed at the Ekinci Palace in october, and while it's not the Ritz, it was perfectly ok for somewhere to sleep. One member of staff stopped by our balcony one evening and tried to pressure us into attending the turkish night, but we very soon put him straight and he didn't bother us after that. The staff were polite and friendly, but not pushy, so we did eat in the restaurant a couple of times, and the food was good.
We've already booked to go back in may. It's a good location, on the edge of the old village, just a short stroll to the beach, or the bars and restaurants in town. We spent a very pleasant morning wandering round the old part of the village, past the mosque, and round the winding lanes, where you find the men sitting outside drinking cay, and the women working in the small fields.

We stayed here in sept,it is clean basic accomadation,we can not fault it, so am i in the minority,at the end of the day it is some where to sleep and use as a base,as most day we were out,the pool was clean and big,the staff friendly.Only had 1 meal there as we tend to eat out all the time when on holiday. I would recommend this place but then have read a few reviews to differ what we thought of the appartments. The sun beds do get full up with people leaving towels on them all day and using them,to get the best of the sun use the beds at the far end from the slide as sun is still there till well after 5pm.They do have free internet.

I would not call them bars as such :? they are more entertainment Bar ? Restaraunt ? type place.

ie: you can have a very good meal with very good service and a very good drink , and then have very good entertainment at the end of the night. :) :) .

I would not say It was Bar street Marmaris

I would say It is hard to find anything like it in the MED.

Nice and Easy are the words I would use for Icmeler...
