Linekers .

Thanks Becki, mind you, it's more depressing knowing it's open because I can't go in winter, Usually I'm ok in the winter because I think it's closed and everybody will have gone home until next season.
Great for anybody who is there on a winter holiday though. I'm just a bit jealous, I might start considering trying a winter visit, as going by this thread, quite a few are open.

I was there Febuary/March was staying in Marmaris but popped over to Icmeler a few times. It was very quiet, alot of building work going on and i don't think we saw anyone else English around when we was in Icmeler.
I don't think i would be able to stay there unless you knew there was going to be a few of you there at the same time otherwise i think i might become abit boring.
Marmaris was abit more busier around the centre,we didn't really go out out much because we was planning on being there for the summer...we was staying in Armutalan and saw more English people around. We went to 1 bar most nights and we was often the only 1's in there.
Would go again in Winter though but would have to stay in Marmaris.

After spending xmas 06 and 07 in icmeler i would agree it is very tranquil, but would not say boring , its just a different kind of holiday, total relaxation.
Time to take that opportunity to walk to marmaris without the sweltering heat of the summer (take your camera )
Time too make new friends of both turkish and british residents, and perhaps do a spot of fishing with them, a big pass time there in winter.
Time to wonder all round icmeler, flowers are in bloom, trees laden with orange and lemon, and local farmers and builders going about the business.
The weather was very kind to me , daytime temp around 18/20c, but come 4pm when the sun sets behind the hills the temp drops pretty sharply, and can be as cool as 4c
For those planning to go, do pack a warm coat, cardigan, and if a little thin on top like myself, a hat, a torch does,nt go a miss at night (can be a few power cuts.) and a brolly just ion case.
There are shops and a few bars open, the market is still on but only for produce, and the domus does regular trips to marmaris, but less frequent than summertime.
Want to brush up on a little turkish before you go , www.linguata.com has a good little trial , interactive, pronuniciation and knowledge test.
For all those going this winter ,enjoy , wish i could do it as well, but xmas 2009 ill be back.
