Its all going horribly wrong. In the MCr Evening NEws last night it said the tourist rate was 2.18 to the pound, how bad is that.

Not good for us lot thats going out in the next few days. usually it gets better as the seasons busier. But its sterling thats taking the hammering.

Its definitately tighten your belts time.

We have always had a better rate in resort than our papers print. When we were away earlier this year we got some good deals where things were priced 25 YTL or £10!I know which one we went for every time  We have always used sterling and apart from a toal rip off once in Antalya we have had very good rates.

I have just returned and on our first week we getting 230 to the £ but when we came home on Sunday it was down to 220 in most places in resort. We take our money from the ATM with Nationwide and got an exchange rate of between 241 an 237 with them. Di. 8)

Hi Eric
Dont rate the P.O, that rate is about 2.15ytl to £, wise move to change small amount, turkey bank rate is 2.275 ish, so should get close to that in shops/bars looks like P.O rate is worse than newspapers!!

I usaullyfind Tesco gives a good rate if you need to change over in this country. All depends if you local Tesco has a currency kiosk in though.

What is happening with the exchange rate, its down to around 2.1 tl to the £. last year I was getting around 2.4 to the £

There is a major talking point on prices in Icmeler on the holiday truths forum complaining about prices and how Turkey is no longer the cheap destination it once was. With the exchange rate continuing to fall this will put even more pressure on holiday makers and the resorts if people choose not to go to Turkey, because of the rate and the cost of getting there
