Price of beer?

Postby Enquirer » 31 Jul 2006 17:54

Hey hello people,I'm new to this forum and i am new to Icmler Turkey but my lovely wife and myself are going there on the11th of August this year.

I would be grateful for some kind member/s to give me their benefit of experience on a few questions i have.

obviously not in priority but..

How much is a bottle of Efes on average? :D
How much is a draught pint of Efes?
How much tip do you give on a round of drinks?

I like exotic food and don't really fancy travelling all that way to just eat chicken and chips!
what exotic dishes have you tried and enjoyed and where?and what did they cost?

At the beach is there fishing trips?
what is the Heaven bar and the maestro resturaunt like for drink and food respectively?

I am so excited about going sorry for asking all these questions but this is the first holiday my wife and i have been on alone together in the sixteen years we have been married.

any advise is appreciated especially the average booze prices! lol

Wellcome to the forum Enquire

Large bottle Effes about £1 to £1.50, you can pay more or less than that.
Draught Effes pint again same as the bottles.
local cocktails 7-10 lira about £3.20 average.

If you stay in the bar or restaurent all night the bill is brought to you at the end of the night, or if you just have drinks you will not be expected to pay at every round only when you decide to leave the bar.

Tipping at the end of a session is a matter whether you have had good service or enjoyed the meal.
My wife wont let me tip more than a couple of lira because she says if we tipped every time we had coffee, tea or the odd beer in a pub the tipping would creat an overdraft at yours trulys bank.
Always check your bill against the food and drinks you have had, at the side of what you are being charged, because mistakes can be made.

I will leave exotic food to others because I am a chicken breast man and that costs about £5.20 with all the trimmings.

Fishing is Johns domain so he will know that.

Never been in Heaven or Maestro bars but others will answere that question.

I will be there same time as you so will look out for you.

Thanks for the quick and detailed reply redrhino12.

looks like we will have enough cash for our week away :D
This was booked for us as a present so didn't have time to save up much but at that sort of price we will do just fine.
having said all that about beer i'm looking forward to walking down the beach at night looking at the stars with my mrs.
Is Icmeler a romantic destination?

Romance is not for us married people but the younger people who do find love and Romance in Turkey.

As for looking the wife in the eyes its more than I dare do, she would class it as a threatening posture.

After a nights drinking I am in no fit state to walk along the beach,
just need to be helped back on my feet after I keep falling down.

For the young people in love their are a few bars with the intimate ambience, again others will have to post these because I go in the Dance bars with loud music, that way I cant hear the wife getting on to me.

Hi Enquirer

We are just back from Icmeler (last Monday) and it was pretty quiet for this time of year, they are hoping it is going to really pick up in August.

Because it was quiet a lot of places were cutting the price of beer. One place (Buffalo Bar, I think) had Draught Pints at 1 lira about 38p!!!! and Bottles of Efes for 2 lira about 72p. The Artemis Restaurant had a sign outside saying Large Efes 47p.

Don't if they will still be doing that if gets busier though.

I also saw a sign outside one apartments, *********, I think which said "End of Season Sale ? All rooms from October 1st £10 per night (thats for a room remember)

Cheers

EDIT: Name removed as is sold by ICR

hi enquirer,
welcome to the forum! we always call into heaven bar, they do nice cocktails and although its not the same as a fun pub they play nice music and leave you alone to listen to it but are not unfriendly. also its quite near to the beach and you can people watch as loads and loads of people pass by. sorry but we've never been in the maestro for a meal so can't help you there. have a lovely time as i'm sure you will!
redrhino you always make my day, you are so funny :D after a long days grafting!

Hi Enquirer
Get ready to come back and book again to go to Icmeler, not that I'm wishing your holiday away of course. You will meet some fab people and eat and drink without it breaking the bank.
Gene romance isn't only for us youngsters lol it might just mean that Enquirer and his missus are disturbed by them when they are having their stroll along the beach  Let us know how you get on, but I can assure you, you'll have a great time xx
