Yes, even if you're bald, you'll still get hassled - if not for a wig, as katie says, then for a shave!
26 May 2010 09:52
yep exactly
they will always get you for something
when i was younger they all wanted to braid my hair
no thanks

Not long now blondie will keep you a seat at the bar. When do you arrive?
26 May 2010 10:27
We should be arriving in
Icmeler between 5pm and 6pm on Thursday, all being well - and I'll be more than ready for a drink!
26 May 2010 18:26
well i have news for you

the loveboat has been closed for 2 or 3 days as of tonight for hassling according to my boyfriend who is one of the waiters
the guy that stands outside got "caught" hassling which im sure he wasnt even doing that much of because he doesnt normally
so yeah they are taking it very very seriously as this is the first time the loveboat has ever been shut for hassling

Wow, never seen the Loveboat closed, I had it down for a place that lives off reputation and hassle would be the last thing they would do...just shows ya
26 May 2010 18:29
yeah Erik maybe because its so early on in the season that they were doing a little bit of hassling to get people in
or maybe it was just the guy having a chat with people cause he usually does if you walk past
he is a really nice guy
im sure its a misunderstand as the loveboat does live off its reputation

It does happen, a friend of ours just unwrapped a lolly for a little girl passing by his restaurant and the police swooped and called it hassle, ridiculous
26 May 2010 18:37
they are taking it too far now cause i mean most of them must be misunderstandings which isnt fair on the owners of theses places and the staff that work there cause im sure their wages will get dropped for this as most of them are paid on commission

Definatley too far.
I for one don't like the full on hassle and last year I thought it was great with little or no hassle and for the first time ever I had some good conversations with a few of the frontmen.
I think this year I will step onto the property if I want to talk, hopefully this will not be seen as hassling.

yeah its nice to have a conversation with some of the men at the front
because i have been going to
icmeler for so long i know a lot of the men on the front and they always like to stop and have a chat with you
hope this wont be seen as hassling as if it is then its way too far

I remember when i was about 13/14 and i spent alot of time in
icmeler then (i wish i could afford all those trips per yeay\r now but i have to pay for myself considering i am 22

) and the hassle was so bad they used to come out of the bar and cross the road or chase you down the street.
I think the changes are for the better to be honest

The first year I went the hassling was a bit too much, this was back in 2003 I think, but over the years it's calmed down and I actually enjoy a bit of hassling and stopping to have a chat & banter with the staff. Many of which, I have got to know over the years so it's lovely to stop & catch up with them.
I really feel the police are taking it far too far. If they stop all hassling,
Icmeler will lose that special touch it has to to it, one of my favourite things about icmeler is the friendliness of the local people. If the rules are implemented so harshly the poor staff will probably be too scared to even shout hello when you wander past.

So, right, let me get this straight. Excuse the ignorance, but If the waiters step outside the restaurant to hassle potential customers, they get shut down? Who does this, the police?
It does sound a bit extreme doesn't it, but having suffered some extreme hassle in olu deniz 7yrs ago, which put us off turkey a bit, I for one would welcome these actions.
Is there a set time ban?
27 May 2010 17:14
Yeah that's right tipsy. They can speak to you from inside the bar but as soon as they step out it's classed as hassling and the police will shut them down, obviously the police can't be everywhere at once so there is probably still some hassling going on but most places will be very wary. They shut them down for 3days for the 'first offence' so to speak and then i think it can be 6 days or a week.....maybe someone else knows more on this???
27 May 2010 17:16
Poor Serden. He's lovely at the front of the house and i'm sure many of the people who go to the Love Boat go back largely in part for him.
To be shut for 2-3 days don't they have to of had prior warnings? I thought it was 1st warning was only a day or so?
ETA - Apparently it wasn't Serden but another of the staff

If it works....all well and good. It must of been pretty bad to warrant these rules, but like I said, if it works....

can not believe what i am reading tonight, that the Loveboat has been closed down for 2/3 nights??it is the one restaurant that is nearly allways busy and last year we had to book to get in both in July and Sept.
Serdan had to go out onto the pavement to book you into the computer so he had to spend time on the pavement surely this did not cause the problem?
After going to
Icmeler now about 12 or more times we know a lot of front of house people(as do so many on this forum).I feel its taking things to far if you can not let on and chat to people,we will end up ignoring the friendly staff we have grown to know, because you will end up feeling you dont want to 'STEP INSIDE' because you dont want to eat at that particular place tonight but by stepping inside you may feel akward about leaving and feel a bit trapped.
I do agree that last year the trip sellers were a pain, even when you had to pass the same place on the way out at night they would not give up even up to our last night.
Any way not long to wait and see what its all about again roll on the end of june
27 May 2010 19:40
yeah i know it is always busy so they dont really have to hassle cause people are always waiting in the sports bar for tables
nope they just got shut down
if it wasnt serden

im going to find out who it was

I know how I feel bout the hassle we've had, but, I can see the front of house side too.
I know for a lot of people, it really makes their holiday, when strolling down the road and seeing the familiar faces, front of house, or their favourite waiter, its a shame its come to that.
