going it alone

wondering about going to icmeler on my own
51 year old female
already been 11 times but always with my partener
feel like its my second home and know it all very well and good friends running hotels bars etc
aware of normal safe rules like dont get drunk and walk up dark streets alone-good idea to stay in the centre instead of the village
would it be all right or am i being paranoid
any views or experiences i would like to hear

Although this year I am going with mum and dad I will be spending most of my time alone and it doesn't bother me one little bit, I have been going for 5 years and know lots of people there.

Deffo stay in the centre I didn't like the walk back on a night in the dark.

Go for it, just be aware like you say.

Same here last year - except I'm a 50s something guy. I'd never been anywhere on my own before and thought I'd go back to Icmeler for one week, with mixed emotions, memories etc.

I had a great time and it was fabulous to see friends I'd made over the years. I suggest a hotel in the centre and if you're uncomfortable going out for an evening meal alone, consider half board at the Blue Rainbow.

You'll meet some others in the same boat as yourself, which surprised me. If you go around the time of the karaoke festival at the end of September I'm sure you'll not be left alone or miss out.

I think you will absolutely fine. I know judging by holidays in the past you always ending up meeting lots of people anyway, as well as the people that you already know out there. I bet when you come abck you think what was the fuss about and you have a fab time!

i always go out there on my own and i am 20, i have a fab time and meet alot more people than when i went with other people.The only thing is when i go for the month the day just gets a little boring but it is good anyway.

I was on my own last time I went at the beginning of July. My friends stayed in Marmaris and my boyfriend was working the whole time so I just pootled about saying hello to friends in other bars I'd been to last time and making new friends all over the place. I wasn't bothered by wandering around on my own, in the dark or in the centre. I am sure you will have a good time, it is liberating being on your own, you can choose whether you are a slob or a show off for the day!! Let us know how you get on.....

Go for it Patrushka, bet you'll have a marvellous time and wonder why you worried about going on your own. I'm same age as you and I'm sure if I didn't have a partner (but I do) I'd still go. Good luck, look forward to your post on your return

Patrushka, when are you thinking of going? I've been to a number of places in Turkey but never on my own either with my partner or my daughter. Must admit I tend to spend quite a bit of time on my own even when with my daughter - she's 30, I'm 52 and we do want some different things from a holiday so understandable we'd do our own thing. I'm thinking of going again in September and if I can't find anyone will probably go on my own rather than stay here!

I have walked back to Old Village on my own, there's a few routes and I was lucky as I stayed at Club Daystar (listed on icmeleronline apartments) which isn't too far off the beaten track. The walk back I chose had bars and restaurants for most of the way, all very friendly and I never felt concerned at all.

I know a number of bars will provide transport back to your hotel, it's worth asking or spending the latter part of the night in one that does do that - even if it's in the centre and not far! I've also had several offers to walk me back - and for no other reason than to make sure I was OK.

If I do go and we're there at the same time, we could meet up.

thanks to everyone for their replies
made me even more determined not to miss out on my beloved icmeler
just because im on my own
its the only thing that keeps me going
that and my daily fix of web cam and chat with my extended icmeler family
ill keep in touch and let you know my exact dates
always around last 2 weeks in september and first in october
maybe i can meet up with some of you there
