Katie you really surprise me asking this as you have answered so many questions about Icmeler :)

I will let one of the members reply to you as it would be daft for me to answer everyones questions on here.

Shame on you Katie only coming out in the dark like a fruit bat  and doing the clubs

Hi Katie, You have two mosques in Icmeler. One is by the Wednesday market, and the other is in the Old Village. I would say that Sinbad restaurant is the nearest eating place to the one in the Old Village. The other one is in a residential area.

That threw us last year, as I had initially thought there was only the one mosque - the one near the market. Hubby, son and I went for a wander up round the old village last year after our dinner, but it was starting to get dark by the time we were thinking about walking back, and we got slightly lost in among all the wee lanes and back streets. Then we saw the mosque - and I got completely disorientated, thinking it was the one near the market...
Needless to say, we soon realised our mistake.

The first time we stayed in Icmeler we stayed at the baba Sahin apartments in the old village, the mosque was very close to there. It used to wake us up every morning.

Say you're at the beach the one near the school is very far right and the other one is very far left

I used to walk practically past it when walking home to the grand aquarium up the dry canal, could see the tower and it was very loud when walking home at 6am one or two times

From what I can remember.

Come out of the lane Cafe Rose is on and turn left. Follow the road as it goes round a bend to the right and it is on that corner. There is (or was- not sure they are still there) a small market and a barbers in the vicinity.

It's not far you could be there in 5-10 mins and you can see it most of the time when your walking towards it, it's just finding exactly where it is once your close because you seem to lose sight of it.

Personally, I would say that the dolmus has a limited service up into the Old Village, but the local bus (blue service bus) goes up towards the mosque, and of course being turkish people they would drop you off just where you wanted to be dropped off.

Hi Katie,

The blue bus is the local service bus that goes up into the Old Village and then back down to the beach, then it goes on to Marmaris. It is a little cheaper than the dolmus, and is mainly used by the locals. We stay up by Deja vu and always use it, because of the limited service of the dolmus to that area of Icmeler. We always use it when we want to go and visit a friend that works in Marmaris. We have been using this bus for the last sixteen years! so can't be bad. I feel I could do a village tour myself by now, ha ha ha

Icmeler Mosque is beautiful, on our last visit the Imam was the cousin of our host and we had a very nice visit to the mosque.
I have some pics of the inside and cant wait to visit again when we get to Icmeler this September.
I cant remember the exact route we took to get there but if you stand at Tansas you can clearly see it so just keep heading in that direction, it is through a residential area and the folks living there are very nice and like to entice you to play football!

Gule gule!

Can you visit the mosque without invitation? I'd love to have a look and think it would be very educational for the children. Obviously realise you need to dress respectfully etc.
