The lemon mozzie stuff?

Postby Sunny » 08 Apr 2010 18:15

Anyone know what I'm talking about? (lol! I dont most of the time!)
Last time we were in Turkey I bought some lemon squirty stuff in the Bodrum market?
You dose yourself in this and the mozzies leave you alone? Wonderful for me because they view me as a banquet.

Any ideas what it is and if you still get it?

You can buy the lemon spray in most shops in Icmeler, and if you sit down long enough in the heat, someone will come along and squirt you for free :D

Hi Sunny
Please dont be fooled by the Lemon spray stuff.
It does what it says on the tin " LEMON SPRAY " smells like lemon and sprays.

Many Turkish people use this to freshen up during hot summers ,nothing more nothing less, lemon spray.

It is not a mozzie basher.
Dont listen to the folk in the market.

I do like using lemon spray, not for mozzies though.

aww Jambo... and may I say rats and dammit! I thought it was the miracle Turkish concoction and have been trying to find it other places since I tried it about 8 years ago!
Y'sure about that?

Lemon scents of all kinds are reputed to be an insect repellent so, if it works for you, it can be a "mozzie basher" :)

I swear by the Avon Skin So Soft - I'm a mozzie magnet and it's the only thing I've found which works for me, but if I do get bitten, the lemon stuff is good for helping to take the sting and itchiness out of the bite. If it works for you, then all well and good, I say!

As someone who attracts mozzies like poo to a blanket, i can say that 100% the lemon spray does bash the mozzies, it is used as a freshening cologne by the Turks but the citronella within makes mozzies fly a mile.

I thoroughly recommend it and always bring home at least a litre, do not buy it in the market or down the canal, its too expensive, the little supermarkets seem to be the cheapest

This smell of this stuff makes me feel nautious.

First year we came to Icmeler, I got a bit of sunburn at the same time as getting Gastroenteritis, and some market dweller sold me 5 bottle of the stuff to ease the sunburn. It brought me out in the worst rash I have ever had, which took about 3 months to clear up. The smell now reminds me of that.

So now everytime they guys try to spray me, they just get "that" look, and a very stern but polite "No Thanks"

The Lemon Spray is fantastic for keeping the mozzies at bay, easing gentle sunburn, as an aftershave and makeing me smell nice as I go out on the town both in Icmeler and at home.
