Hi John,

yes i know that but what i mean is where is it cheap and not boring cause i have been to
many places in Turkey before where sometimes the best atmosphare is at the cheap/very resonable
bars & restaurants. Never been to Icemeler before so im just trying to find stuff out.

Have you heard about 3 Bells Bar in Icemeler ? Ive heard this is one of the best bars in Icemeler. Is that true ?

Regards

3 Bells is very good food and has a great atmosphere but is not the cheapest. I would say that it about average pricing.
restaurants in the old village area as a rule tend to be amongst the cheapest, Harry Rams, Robin Hood, Tommys. Nefes Pide is also very cheap with typical Turkish food on sale.

As a very rough guide, from last years prices for most of the season
starters are about 3--5 lira
main course chicken dish about 13--18 lira
main course steak dish about 18--25 lira
main course casserole about 15--18 lira
beer about 4 lira
soft drink about 4 lira

There are cheaper and more expensive places the above a rough guide. Exchange rate for most of las t year was about 2.35--2.4

When you get to icmeler have a wander around the resort, most restaurants offer a set meal for anywhere between 8 and 24 lira. This can include bread with mezes or starter, main coarse and coffee or desert - if theres a large group of you they may even offer 1 free drink each, in with the price, just to entice you in. Book your table through the day and they have it set up for you for a certain time at night. No matter where you eat you'll get fantastic food at exceptional prices.

The dearest we paid was 22 or 24 lira and that was for 4/5 coarse with a steak meal. :D

Cheers John

....5 courses for 18.50 lira at Valentinos (previously Baron), but would rate it for atmosphere, we move on after eating

Cheapest Place with quality food had to be Cafe Erdem, hopefully it will be re-built.

I agree with the one of the posters, who said quality and cheapness don't usually go together, however you will go a long way to beat the hospitality, price and food quality of the Efes Inn restuarant/beach bar.

The cheapest places to eat have got to be the pide/kebab places, surely - and some of the food's not at all bad, either! Ideal if you're just looking for a quick, cheap snack.

Depends on your taste, I suppose - you get ones with spicy minced beef or lamb on them, or a type of salami - whatever takes your fancy!

We had 2 excellent evening meals and 4 great breakfasts at Valentino's last year.

The "annoying little man/muppet" who was actually quite a solidly built fella was very personable and welcoming to us.

We called him Baron Valentino the 23rd. He didn't understand until we mentioned the three names displayed in his restaurant. We settled for "The Baron" We had absolutely no problem with him, nor did many others, seeing as the restaurant was always doing a good trade when we visited.

The Turkish Iron Pan dish was fantastic.

Each to there own eh! :D

Cheers

The champion bar does good food cheaply, but it's not somewhere you'd really stay drinking afterwards.

We had nothing but great food and hospitality at Barons. The "Annoying little man" who is actually not that little at all was very friendly and welcoming to us. Although he did say their roast beef was better than my mother!!!

I liked him. The smarmy git at Amigos, on the other hand.......

Sirkyboy, i see in your post that you say "I hope the Erdem cafe will be rebuilt" please don't tell me it has gone i love that place, we go every dinnertime for a great snack that is very cheap, the place is always full not only because it is cheap but the food is absolutely gorgeous, we always see and talk to many of the same people in there year after year, i'm gutted to hear it might be gone

I'll second Champion Bar. The food is good, and the prices are some of the cheapest in town. We often call in there for breakfast on the way to the beach, and have the odd evening meal as well. Their beer was only 2.5 lira last year, as opposed to 4, sometimes 5, lira elsewhere. Rosie is lovely, too. Always has a smile and a friendly chat. In the evenings, and sunday lunchtimes, you'll find it's very popular with expats who don't want to cook.
