The Laguna hotel is now renamed the Fantasia as in the same group that own a few in Turkey.

The Munamar is now owned by someone from Qatar.

Would you like to introduce yourself smiley central and let the other members know where you live

Laguna is now called the FANTASIA HOTEL owned by the very well known, Ulusoy Group in Turkey.

Fantasia Hotels will be the most luxurious boutique hotel in Icmeler on a Full Board basis. From all the work I heard is going down there, this hotel will actually take the #1 standing in a very short time.

Munamar no longer exists. From what we hear, it will be a residence and not a hotel. It is definitely bought by the construction company owned by the Sheikh of Qatar. Lets see what sort of changes this brings to Icmeler in the long run...if it ever does.

At least for the Sheik he will be handy to pop across the road to Jimmies Oikimo bar and restuarant to watch the football.

Would the beach in front of the Munamar become a private beach to go with this very large House?

I hope he obtains the correct planning permission for it's change of use from hotel to residence otherwise the demolition experts will be out again during the closed season.

I think the beach is owned by the council and rented to the hotels for use as a private beach so it won't be part of the purchase.

I see on another forum that Side council this year have cancelled all current agreements with Hotels and the whole beach will be public, you never know the same may happen in Icmeler one year.

I hope not, they have done this in most parts of spain now and can be quite expensive to spend a day on the beach by the time you pay for your sunbed and parrasol. At least on the beach in Icmeler at the moment you are getting them free in return for something you are going to have in the first place ie you will want a drink at some point in the day and maybe some lunch.

Is it closing for the whole year or just until the start of the season for re-furbishment? When you check out what the net is saying it confirms that it was bought but by the Construction Company owned by the Sheik!!

Only asking as I have booked to go there with my hubby, 2 daughters and in-laws in August. When I saw the posting yesterday I immediately contacted who I had booked thru' (the bank) and they in turn contacted the tour operator for the Munamar. I was told that they knew nothing about the buyout and that they were still taking bookings, however, on checking their website you cannot book this hotel for anytime during the season!!

I was back on the phone this morning with a very helpful girl from the bank who once again called said tour operator only to be told the same thing, but she then did a bit of digging around of her own and came up with the same information as we all have and then suggested that she back the tour operator to speak to a manager.

The outcome is that apparently tour operator is now going to investigate the situation as they are unaware of any problems with it and it there is they will get in touch with my bank who in turn will contact me.

Not a great outcome but I guess I will just need to hang fire until I hear from them, or should I say until I contact them again next week to find out anything.

Hopefully it'll be a good outcome, just don't want to be trying to find something at the last minute.

If anyone out there has anymore information please post it or if you are having the same problems but have had a different outcome from me.

On the good side if he did turn it in to a house there will be many permanent jobs for ancilliary workers there which I would imagine would benefit turkish workers rather than the seasonal ones in restaurants and bars.

Any travel agency that is still selling the Munamar to its customers should not be trusted.

I have been telling people since last November that it will not be open and the Aqua has benefited from this greatly

I agree about the travel agents still selling this holiday.

Although in fairness to them I did book last October!!

Anyway further updates, sent father-in-law off to our nearest tour operator in question on Sat. He went and was told that when they went into their system that they were unable to book this hotel for any time this season. SURPRISE SURPRISE, but that they were totally unaware as to why (believe that if you like). The chap tried to call through to the necessary dept. at head office, but could not get through and advised father-in-law to call back in an hour. He did so only to be told that the department in question did not open on a Saturday but that he would contact them on Monday and call him back at home. This then begs the question as to who my Bank was talking to regarding the problem!!!!!!

Will be waiting on in-laws call at work on Monday and then probably making a very angry phone call again.
