My friend recently had to go into the travel agents to amend some details on her holiday to Cyprus. She said they told her there is now a special requirement to fill in a form online about your passport & your holiday, this is since the Christmas Day attempted plane bomb.
She said they told her you have to fill it in at least 4 months before you go and its asking things like where you will stay for the first night of your hol, how many people are in your party etc.
has anybody heard anything about this as i have looked on different websites and can't find any info?

They have been doing this for years going to Spain and other countries, I dont think it has anything to do with the Christmas day bombings. I think it is just a time saveing effort on the part of the airline so they dont have loads of passanger info to forward on when they have checked everyone in.

I have just had to provide it for E***J** for when I travel to my sisters in Cabo Roig in Spain this coming June.

As salford_steve says, it is common procedure for many EU countries.

I would not be surprised if it was widened to include Turkey, Tunisia etc.

Anything that helps our safety and security while travelling is ok by me.

I have just googled Advanced passenger information and it says its been in force since 2009 for EU countries as you say Andy, but one link actually includes Turkey.
I agree with your point about security, I'm not bothered what we have to do as long as we can continue to fly safely. The body scanners are ok with me also.

I definately agree with the Body Scanners. I have read some objections to them and I really don't see there objection. It is not like the officers looking at the screen will be able to see you nude like some people seem to think. It just allows the officer to be able to pick up on unusual shapes that may be taped onto a person. I am definately in favour and the sooner they roll it out over all airports the better. These civil rights protestors that object to these things really annoy me, there needs to be a line drawn under what is sensible and needs to be done to protect people and what these people think is a violation of peoples civil rights.

I can picture many people making jokes about these procedures (in the future) and actually tape things on them just for a laugh:)

Advanced Passenger Information: Not a reliable form of collecting information.Besides, how/where it gets used is beyond me.

Here is a little insider of what Turkey does as an alternative - this serves to many other purposes...although disliked by business owners:)

Each night at 11:55pm, all hotels have to send in the infomration of their checked in customers to the local police station (not doing so has a big fine) - if hotel has a network connection, this can be done via internet and all the information gets sent to the central security department...does it end there? no.... it most definitely gets sent to a department at revenue Turkey as well. This way, the tax office knows exactly how much business you done with the touch of a button...so you can imagine the rest when it comes to declaring income etc at end of the year. I am sure they use this information for statistics etc as well like every other country does...But when looking at it, correct information for security purposes is collected in a reliable and up to date form.

pretty clever way of doing things as they can keep close tabs on who is staying where and for how long

Ive just got back from turkey and was on 4 flights within the 2 weeks (international and domestic) and never had to provide advanced passenger information. But when i flew with E***J** in August i did need to provide this information. So maybe its just certain companies who have introduced this for now???

we booked flights to icmeler yesterday and on the company's website there is a notice saying
that flights departing after a certain date think it was the end of february will be subject to advanced passenger information
not providing the company with this could result in travel being denied
which is something we dont want to happen
you must fill in the information between 3 months and 7 days before your departure and the only turkish airports that are requiring this information are:
dalaman, antalya, bodrum and izmir
there is a link to the website specific for each company on their websites so it can be done easily online
