New Airport Open

Postby geordiewoman » 07 Jul 2006 22:01

We came through the new airport today, arrived, checked in and went through passport control without a hitch. Its been open several days now so any teething problems that seemed to be there at the beginning have been ironed out.

Mcdonalds, Pizza Hut and KFC all there, around £7 a Mcdonalds meal though!

Ladies loos a bit sparce, I went into one with only 3 cubicles which could get a bit full up if there were lots of departures, I also could not get any water to come out of the taps!! Maybe its just me!!

A family in the next check in queue to us were stopped with a holdall which wasnt excessive at all so be careful of the size of hand luggage you carry through. We took 3 small sports bags and werent questioned at all so it really is a case of size matters rather than weight.

Overall straight through and no problems at all whatsoever.

This was mailed to me by one of our guests who flew HOME the other day.

Rami / John, thought id let you know about the nightmare that is the new airport! John warned us prior to departure of teething problems, but in reality, it was absolute chaos! Main hotspots to let people know about are : Check in - staff clearly have very little knowledge of the new IT they are using, with check in taking 30 mins just for me and Beccy! Passport control Same issues - clearly no training given to staff using new IT, consderable queues Duty Free / waiting area Duty Free is much better, but again, new tills with no training mean lengthy queues. Waiting area - none existant, you have to wait in the expensive food hall begore being called to your gate. All of the above are naturally teething ptoblems that you can share with your customers, im sure they will iron themselves out in a few weeks. See you in September! Sean

Also there was an 1 hour delay yesterday from Gatwick so imagine what it was like at this end for the people waiting at Dalaman to go home
