What happened to the market today?

Postby sylvnclive » 27 May 2009 15:48

Went to the market today and there was only food stalls, The council had blocked access to the top area with the fire enginers and there was a car under the arch where the food stalls end. There were a lot of people around who looked disappointed, so is the end of the market as we know it?

It was about 90 degrees, so if the tenst had been up it would have been very hot inside, but this is what you get used to.

we were there the two weeks before and the market was fine, however we did see a lot of people in suits checking documents and closing a lot of stalls down maybe that had something to do with today

I was there last week and it was as big and bustling as ever. I did notice though that the stall at the beginning which has been there for the last few years, the one that sells Turkish delight, soaps etc was not there. I beleive they were Brothers-very nice guys. Hope is not the end of the market. Women are put on this Earth to shop!!!

I also went to the market whch was virtually closed

Spoke to a few stall holders who advised that council had put up the rates so the traders were boycotting the market
