I expect a small gain, but hopefully swimming and walking will compensate for the goodies

back of Tansas? Its quite a way from Tansas. I wonder how many people who visit Icmeler actually visit the old Village?
The bakery is right in the old village. From Tansas you would walk right up, past the school area.............actually much easier to expain if you walk past Romance restaurant, keep going, you will come to a crossroads with Love Star restarant on one sie of road and Ossies on the facing side. Turn left at Love Star, continue until you naturally turn right, at Sinbads, walk up past houses and 'gardens' you will find the bakery on the right hand side - follow the aroma!!!
You will ALWAYS see the old men of the village playing game outside of cafe, no matter what time you walk up there.
Will be there this time next week, cant wait.

Thanks for that - yes, this is the bakery I was meaning. My apartments are next to the School, so from the School I will be able to find it with these directions. Thank you :D

think I know where you mean, but just to be sure.........
which school do you mean - the infant/junior school near Tansas or the high school in the old village(ish), which is sort of near where you describe the "poker" player bakery as being?

27 May 2009 22:36

Cheers Fanny  Now I am more confused, I only thought there was 1 School.

28 May 2009 07:27

Mary i think there are 2, one either side of Icmeler, you are staying to the right (with your back to the sea). There is another school on the left too

28 May 2009 08:15

The one that people are talking about with the men outside is near deja vu like across the road from it.

28 May 2009 08:38

Rosie is it near the butchers. If it is Mary it's a lot nearer for you, but i don't think it's a bakery is it?? I thought it just sold bread not made it :?

28 May 2009 15:49

I didnt think it was a bakers either but someone else said it was and yes near the meat shop with the pig hanging out haha.

28 May 2009 20:49

thanks for that Rosie,
we usually stay near the butchers and Deja Vu, but am almost certain there's not a bakery there - the one at that side of town is the one behind Tansas

from what I can gather based on the directions above, the other bakery is on the left of the town in the old village (if you've got your back to the sea)

Looks like that's this year's plan ............... to find the other bakery where I reckon the chaps will be playing backgammon rather than poker??

I need somewhere new to find after managing to seek out Rose's cafe last year - and I reckon the "other " bakery's in the same neck of the woods :?

hehehe, thought someone would say that Mary - we only stumbled across the high school by accident last year  (when looking for Rose's Cafe, and no, it's nowhere near hehehe)

28 May 2009 21:47

Thats settled - first place I see selling bread - I am buying it  :D

28 May 2009 21:54

can you imagen me trying to find it i would get lost i would not find my way back to the hotel

28 May 2009 22:47

Where do you stay fanny???

Be easy to describe the way there if knowing where staying, but as already said, go to the old village, and really - just look out for the minaret from the mosque - it's white and blue and you can't miss it. The bakery is just along from there, immediately past a cafe where there will be some older men sat outside.

0.75 for a loaf fresh and warm from the oven. I did this run every morning early before the heat came, see the women tending their crops, the men sat drinking coffee (Talk about getting priorities right  ), and so often, if there are any little kids, they practiced their English on me :D It's worth going for the walk alone, but the bread is also fantastic.
