Slippy feet

09 May 2009 11:26

I wonder if anyone has the same problem as me when I go to Icmeler.
I've got some lovely wedge sandals that I can wear at home no problem but when I try to wear them in Icmeler in the evenings (or any other sandals apart from flip flops with toe posts) my feet slide through them.
Even though I have a shower & it is cooler because it is evening it still happens.
I have tried to put those party feet insoles in, talcum powder evrything but still keep slipping & a sliding ( even before I have a voddy :D ).
My feet are not very wide but shoes are OK in England.
Has anyone got any tips or I'll have to come in my wellies :(

Sorry, I cant think of anything else to try in them. Thats a shame that your feet slip through them. I have the opposite problem, my feet swell a little, so everything goes tighter. I have no problems with my feet at home, but I do in Icmeler......

I am the same as Mary , me feet swell on holiday in the heat.

Can you get a smaller size to take on holiday ?

Thanks for your replies. I thought of getting a smaller size Col but i still need the length, its just it gets so hot and my feet literally slip through so my toes are actually touching the floor. I might get measured at Clarks to find what my correct width should be, but then again would it be the same in icmeler as my feet seem to go narrower? :?

I'm the same as Mary and Col, the amount of times I've taken sandals then they're too tight for me. Same with clothes by the second week some things not fitting (maybe its all those lovely meals though!!)

Hey dotty I take a size bigger for my second week in clothes

I bought some new cotton shorts last week and they just fit nice, but next day I exchanged them for the next size up, just incase I still swell, but I am hoping that i dont now that I have lost weight.

Yes Col I'm getting wise to it now, I take some stuff thats too big for me just now and they're usually a perfect fit for the second week.

I was thinking of cotton wool earlier, maybe a little pad around the top of your foot, a bit like a helmet

Hi Skilly , this made me laugh cos I have the exact same problem!! I thought it was just me the only solution i've found is to wear your shoes to the bar/restaurant then walk home without them!! you dont care after a few cocktails!!  or just waer flip flops the whole holiday!! enjoy!! I'm counting down now only 5 sleeps!! :D can't wait!

I have exactly the same problem skilly. Have just resigned myself to filthy toes and funny walks over the years.

after having a shower, trying spraying anti persperant on your feet :D before you go out

it works if the tops of your legs rub together.....by spraying the legs, not the feet..

i have never tried it, but a couple of years ago, my feet sweat so much my feet just slipped off my flip flops, but last year i was alright

I never carry dainty little bags with me of an evening because I always have to have enough room to carry my 'walking home shoes ', good comfy flatties (usually not very attractive) I usually change at the top of the canal!!

Superglue?!

socks

  some great suggestions here!!

What about Blue Tack?

Another thing to watch is slippy flat leather bottomed sandals on those shiny pavements.... trecherous, especially after an Efes or three!! I have some lovely scars from where I've slid off said pavements and taken off 10 layers of skin!

I have had a right good chuckle at some of your suggestions, they are worth a try :?
Karemolinos, I start slipping and a sliding through my sandals as soon as I leave the apartment not just later in the evening.
I could wear flip flops all the time but I so love my dressy sandals with a dress, flip flops don't always look right and part of my hol is to get dressed up in the evenings

PS I'm glad that other people have this problem I don't feel so silly now.
Have good holiday Aliness, I will think about you doing your funny walk around Icmeler :)
