Icmeler-Marmaris Walk

Postby wilts4 » 25 Mar 2009 17:56

Arriving in Icmeler last week in July and hope to walk to Marmaris early morning, can anyone tell me if there are places to stop for a paddle and something to drink along the way? Also how long does the walk take, obviously want to do it before it gets too hot.

There are places to stop and drink untill you reach the end of icmeler beach, then for a shortish distance you have to walk up a side road at the back of one of the Hotels cant remember the name. There are no bars there, but would prob take about 20 mins before you are back onto the beginning Marmaris beach where the bars start again. We did walked back from Marmaris last year. But stupidly did it at the wrong time it was 2 in the afternoon and bakeing hot, had to get in the sea for abit to cool down. We didnt quite make it got to just after the hotel where the bars stop and pursuaded a man with a speed boat to take us back he charged us 10 lira. I would say it would porb take you an hour and half to get into centre of marmaris.

we had a nice walk along the coast to Marmaris last season, there are many places to stop and have a drink, a bite to eat or just a dip in the sea - we got one of the many boats back, a word of caution though beware of the grape man !! we were caught out by him last year - he tried unsuccesfully i may add to get away with 20ytl from my husband - this seemed to be a familiar tale last season, although i would say in all the years we have been going to Icmeler this is the first time anyone has tried to rip us off...have a nice holiday j

Hi there, I walked to Marmaris last year and managed to stay on the coastal path, didn't walk up any roads behind hotels as the path seperates the hotels from the beach. There are parts of the walk that are quite well shaded, but most of it is not, so choose your time to go carefully. Its a nice walk and you come across some unusual places such as an ice skaking rink and a bar shaped like a snake. Have fun and look forward to that ice cold Efes at the end of your trek.

we di the walk to marmaris year before last and it was fine couple drinks on the way and then taxi boat back.last year we did it the other way around and that was a big mistake, the boat trip was great but the walk back at the height of the day was to much and we ended up getting a taxi,i have to say that my knees arent up to much these days so dont let our circumstabnces put you off as some of the views from along the walk are stunning. We do the walk every holiday and love it, but be warned and go early as it gets too hot after midmorning. If you go back to page 28 on this Forum and down to the topic "quick question re: walk to Marmaris you will find several replys there which should help.

I must of gone the wrong way round then, as didnt know the path continued all the way. We eneded up wondering down a private road of a hotel. We were desperate for a drink but all the bars were behind gates and seemed to belong to the hotel.
