Liquids in hand luggage

Postby Chris » 14 Feb 2009 23:27

Have just had a look on pegasus website, and it says that there will be a restriction on liquids in hand luggage from 1st March 2009,no more than 100ml in plastic bags!!!.If this is the case with all the airlines departing from Dalaman its going to cost a fortune at the airport for drinks.Has anyone else heard about this.

water @ airports

Postby bill atkinson » 15 Feb 2009 11:00

hi water & liquids are a problem at newcastle also ,i was made to pour out a bottle of exspensive medicine one year? water ,buy this when you get into departures at wh smiths or menzies ect. cheaper than on the aircraft, this way is ok at newcastle. at icmeler buy water there, before your transfer, its cheaper as you say than dalaman, and take it with you,i,ve never had bother taking it through in turkey. enjoy but its a no no as a replacement for EFES bye bill atkinson

It's been 100ml of liquid for ages now. As this is what is specified by the CAA and any airport which falls under CAA juristiction must abide by these rules. All aiports in the UK come under these rules.
Individual airlines have no say in the matter.

Liquids in hand luggage

Postby Chris » 15 Feb 2009 15:24

I know about the restriction on liquids in hand luggage,ie no more than 100ml bottles, but as you know there has never been restriction on the amounts leaving Turkey,I just thought reading this that they were falling in line with the rest from 1st March this year!

hmmm strange one this
if the restrictions are for flights out of Dalaman, wouldn't the same apply as here ie 100ml in hand luggage BEFORE security, then buy your liquids once in the departure lounge??
if it's going to be no more than 100ml at all, they may as well stop selling liquids ie duty free spirits etc at all in the Departure Lounge. don't you think - or am i missing something!?

Fanny, I think that's what Chris means. That's going to be a pain in the bum though, as I remember we paid 6 lira for a small bottle of water in the airport once!

thanks Jools
know what you mean about the prices at the airport - what's the betting they'll be even more expensive if these restrictions are in place
at least at our end we've got good old Boots to rely on for not ripping us off!

If they are bringing in the restrictions hopefully it will only apply at the security check at the gate and not when entering the airport.

Thought this might be of use to those traveling in the next few weeks.
Travelled back on Monday and there are posters all over the airport stating that the new law comes into effect at Dalaman on 1st August 2009.

It is the same as the restrictions in airports at home and in Europe. No liquids can be taken through passport control eg water, drinks etc. Any liquids/creams (includes make up etc.) which you are carrying in your hand luggage must be less than 100mls and placed in a small clear plastic bag. You can still put liquids more than 100mls in your hold luggage and there is exceptions to medicine and baby food.
Check the Dalaman airport web site it's all on it.
