Spending Money

Postby wilts4 » 08 Feb 2009 11:04

We are family of 4, 2 teenage boys who just enjoy the beach, waterpark etc. Has been 3 years since visited just wondered how much you recommend for 2 weeks. We like to eat out yet not big drinkers!! Thinking around £2500?

More than enough.

We are a family of 5 (kids age 3,6,9.) (can you see the pattern  )

We are going for three weeks this year (1wk Icmeler + 2 wk Hisaronu )and plan to have £2500 spending money.

I like the odd Efes or 5 when on hols.

Try having lunch at your apartment ( if SC ) and you will save yourself a few ££s

I would think £2500 will be more than enough for 2wk ( I hope so ,as it will have to last us 3 wks ) :P

God we must be right tight, we only take about £700 with us for the 2 of us for 2 weeks and HOPE to bring some back with us

Altho saying that when we go with my parents what we do is put £50 a day each couple into a kitty and I keep hold of it for anything we have together - anything we want for ourselves we buy separate. Just saves trying to divide up the cost of meals/drinks everytime.

jambogarry might we get an Icmeler baby this year then lol. I was thinking the same spend and we are doing 24 nights but only 2 kids. Beau my hubby and i would only spend that without the kids ha ha, it's ice creams and drinks (juice) for the kids, not mum and dad's Effes :D :D

I begrudge paying 3.5 lira for a small glass of coke when you can buy 3 litres for 2.5 lira in the shops. We usually try and find the cheapest places that sell icecreams and head there instead of paying over the odds elsewhere.

Mother inlaw came with us last year and kept buying the fresh OJ and wondered why her bill was so high, until we pointed out it was 5 lira a glass then she kept to cups of apple tea

We usually drink Effes when we're out and buy a big bottle of coke on the way home and have a few brandy and cokes before bed on the balcony.

Vodka and cherry juice on the balcony and cans of Effes are cheap too. All part of the fun finding a bargain while stil enjoying ourselves. We fell into the trap of eating out in the apartment restaurant each breakfast/lunch as it was easier that trailing the 2 little ones but was NOT cheap :(

Oooo you can't ruin the cherry juice putting voka into it

Love Cherry another thing we do is buy a bag of cherries from the grocers and eat them when we're wandering around during the day, really refreshing.

Meant to say, we pay separate for any trips we have - we don't include it in the £700.

Totaly agree.!

I hate paying over the odds for anything.......

I think I am lucky as my kids do not have sweet tooths.... ( ie Fizzy juice or Ice pops ) they like fruit and water .

We can easily budget for our holiday knowing that we all have limits while still enjoying ourselfs..

You've got REALLY good kids - can't recommend the groccers on the side of 'Best Supermarket' enough, the man practically gives his produce away, it's so cheap. We had 2 bags of salad stuff for 2 lira  The fruit is more obviously but the more you go back the more he gives you. Also the guys in the shop give the best exchange rates we've found in Icmeler too. ALWAYS more than the guy under ICR offices.

We always take around 1200 for 2 adults and 1 kid foe 2 weeks and seem to budget very well, we dont scrimp but instead of eating out for brekkie every day we do it one day in next day out, always eat out at night time and always have plenty of efes during day and night plus the odd cocktail or bottle of wine

I think without scrimping it can be done very reasonably. As we only go for 2 weeks normally we tend to go a bit mad, but taking into account we are going for so long i am confident we can still have treats etc. We all have different holiday expectations and our kids certainly don't get treats every day but we like to do it when we are on hoilday :D
