What are easyjet like?

Postby jools » 13 Jan 2009 01:47

We've booked our first flight with easyjet, since they've started doing Gatwick-Dalaman :D

Very pleased with the savings we've made, but what are they like to fly with? Someone said they flew with them and weren't given a seat allocation, it was like a bus where you just picked one??

 Sounds very peculiar to me! Anyone able to offer some insight?

Thanks!

Hi I flew with them to Cyprus and yes they are ok but you are correct there is not a seat allocation unless you pay extra to prebook. Three of us went and we did not have any problems with seating us all together. Dont worry about your flight, think of how you can enjoy your savings in Icmeler.
Lucky you ! Booked it Packed it!!

You cannot pay extra to pre book seats with easyjet.

You pay extra to be on of the first of a group of people to run like a jack rabbit to try to get a decent seat or to actually try to get seats together if you are in a party.

The people that do not pay for this first off the starting blocks privilege just wait until everyone of the few are on the plane and then they run like mad and when they get on there they find that those first people have spread out all over the plane and you now cant get your group of 4 people together.

Personally I would rather pay to get a ticket on a "normal" flight which has a seat number on it.

I flew Easyjet last year and am doing so again this year. Last year I didnt pay for priority boarding and still had no problems with seating, in fact we had exit aisle seats there and back!! The plan was in good condition, being ex-BA, leather seats. There was even inflight entertainment which we werent expecting. I have paid for priority boarding this time. I must say that having flown Onur last September, they are the absolute pits. I have been very pleased with Easyjet.

I must also add that my experiences with easyjet have not been flying to Turkey as Gatwick or Luton are too far away from me to contemplate.

I was talking about the numerous flights I take going to Spain to see my cousin but if there was another choice from Liverpool I would certainly not be choosing easyjet or the other one from Ireland

I flew with them in December to Benidorm. I was also like you dubious as I knew they didnt allocate seats. I

nstead of a seating number you are giving a boarding class for people who check in on line and I think something like the first 30 or 40 to check in at the airport are given boarding class A, after that it is bparding class B. We were there early so got group A, both flights were full and we managed to get a seat no problem infact we got extra legroom both ways. I actually really rate Easyjet. We were also lucky enough to fly on one of their A320's which is the same as they will be useing for Dalaman, as they acquired them when they took over the route to Dalaman from GB Airways, therefore the aircraft is more than adequate for the journey, they also have TV on. They don't serve meals, however there is an option to buy hot & cold sandwiches. When we checked in we were given a £1 off voucher off a meal deal so it made a hot sandwich and hot drink only £5 which I dont think was bad.

Overall I actually rate them quite highly and if you get a good price then you can't beat them.

Also if you are concerned about gettin a seat together there is the Speedy Boarding option they are boarded first and you are given the first pick of the seats which would gaurantee you a place together, but I dont thin there is any need to do this as long as you check in online or in the check in que nice and early.

Hope this helps.

Also make sure your at the boarding gate nice and early aswell, if they can get the aircraft boarded early they will leave early.

We have flown E..... several times, the last being to Istanbul, last February, we have always found them to be good flights, and on time. The first people on the plane are those that booked seats and paid extra, then the others, the secret is to get to the airport early as your tickets are numbered and you go in the queque according to when you checked in. We have never found any difficulty getting four seats together.

I thought you could only check in online if you have hand luggage not hold? We couldn't when we went to Spain in October.

You can check in at the Airport for a fee of £3. I am not sure how they are doing it with Dalaman though as these are scheduled flights taken over from GB Airways so may be slightly different to your usual charter flight to spain.
