i might have to get one of these, and rade steve's pockets after the night out at the weekend, i'd be rich after a year!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think i would do 1 & 2 £ coins as i never seem to get that many £2 coins. Have to start taking money out of the bank and not just use my debit card otherwise i wont have anything

Got a tin today from my local £ shop mines got a tiger on. They had 3 different 1s. Its great idea.

we forgot all about this until fathers day.when the family gave me money and an emergency holiday fund tin.so we will find out on sept 22nd how generous they are.i only put two pound coins in.

I have not long been back from my hols and loved the idea about your tin opening ceromony. What type of tin you use that you can get into without there being evidence of it, if that makes sense.

The savings tin is in full swing now, I got two as Christmas gifts, one small one and one large one, so I'm saving £1 coins in the small one and 50p and 20p coins in the large one. It always gives us that extra for at the airport and for our private transfer. Anyone else using the same method this year? xx

Not a tin but a demi-john which we started filling when we came home last year. It is about a third full already and Megan who is 7 has just had her birthday 4th January and said she wanted to save £20 of her Birthday money so she put that in the pot too Anyone got any tips (apart from smashing it) how to retrieve said £20 from a very narrow bottle neck

Could you not try getting the £20 near the neck of the bottle then use tweezers to grab it?

Bottle neck is very long and thin so no good ha ha. We can always break it if neccessary

i got my tin in b&m bargains £1.99 its stands approx 10/12 inch tall andcircumference is about size of side plate hope this helps then my other half superglued the lid you can get baked bean size were you need can opener to open it happy saving

They had some large tins that you have to open with tin opener in Home Bargains yesterday they were 49p.

We got the large tin that you need a tin opener to open and been saving £2 coins, plus any single 50p coins, plus all £10 lottery wins since last September. Cant wait to open it for the next holiday and see how much is in it, feels about 3/4 full now.

Knitting Needle with a blob of Cheapo Blue Tack on the end.

I did the same thing a few years ago with a whisky bottle. and couldnt get the notes out.

Takes a bit of practice, and use the cheapo shitey bluetack (the stuff that leaves marks on your walls) as it is stickier and grabs the note easier.

Talking on thread, I like this idea. We bought our daughter one of these tins when she was born, for the money people give her, but never thought about saving holiday for spends, with quid coins.

It's like take a break in here, lol.
