Morocco?

Postby level200 » 26 Nov 2008 19:40

We went to Icmeler this year and loved it, next year we are thinking about Morocco. Has anyone been before and can offer advice?

Cheers

I have been going to Turkey for many years, and in 2006 we thought the same that we would give Morrocco a try, we went to Agadir. We stayed in the Carribean Village which is a large complex close to the beach we where AI. The courtry itself is fasinating and the people are not as frendly as the Turks at all. But the bigest problem I found was the weather, we went last week in July/first week in August andthe sun never came out till mid day and some days not at all. As you can imagine I am not used to that at all, but also there was a definite dampness in the air as well. Sound not to good but the holiday was most enjoyable in a different way. Would I go again YES as I know what to expect now. There is a lot of building work going. A visit to the Souk is a must and a great experience. Any questions just ask. Karen

We went to Agadir a couple of years ago in March time and found the weather cold and had a lot of very wet days, although we did have several days round the pool, which was heated, which was great, and the beach was out of this world. The hotel was reasonable, in fact compared to some in Turkey, very good, but there it ends. The people are not at all friendly and if they as much as spoke to you they would want paying. One guy attached himself to us after he had asked where we were going and been told the harbour and when we got there he told us he had five kids and would we give him some money for them. We emptied our pockets of change which he promptly threw on the ground and demanded paper money. On the main road outside the hotel, round the square and along the road were about 14 - 20 police, all in groups of four, one nice one told us they were there just in case there was any trouble. Makes you wonder how much trouble they were expecting!! If went again it would have to be in a group so we would feel safer.

Just think of the things that you don't like on holiday and that's Morocco. Tunisia as well. Did not feel safe at all. Would not go back to either of them for free.

I assumed Morocco would have the same friendlky people, albeit a lot of mithering, touchy feely type hassle. Obviously not. Egypt is bad for that as well with very poor areas i gather from a colleague.

I did fancy going to either place to try it and Goa.

We at icmeler this summer though. Think it might be the last family holiday as a foursome because eldest daughter will be 17 so most likely not want to come with us again, unless we pay. lol.
