Is there anything you will not miss about Icmeler

Postby smc4761 » 26 Oct 2008 15:45

For me the biggest pain is people smoking in bars and restaurants. In Scotland the smoking ban has been in place for a few years and its great to go for a night out and not come back stinking of smoke.

Is it just me or does just about every Turk smoke, and there seemed to be plenty of holidaymakers smoking

We were probably all making the most of being able to smoke without having to go outside!
You'll be happy next year though Stewart as the ban on smoking in Turkey which is currently only in airports, banks, stations and such like is, apparently, being extended to bars and restaurants...

I've got to agree with Stewart - the smoking ban here in Scotland was a dream come true for me, and you tend to forget that it's not universal...yet!
Mind you, if I had to pick just one thing, it would have to be the mozzies - I swear they see me as an "all you can eat buffet" - even the midges here make a beeline for me. Mind you, I'm normally the only one in the family who gets targeted by the little blighters, but this year, all four of us had bites - even my husband, who never gets bitten. It was so bad I had to go to the chemist to get antibiotics for them.
Still, it won't put me off returning to Icmeler - I don't think anything could do that!!

I enjoy being able to smoke in bars abroad. I know some people are not considerate smokers and if I am in a bar or restraunt and someone is eating next to me I would not have a ciggarette. But as most of the bars are generally outside areas and have plenty of ventialation don;t think it's so bad.

I wont miss paying 6 lira for a vodka (sometimes not much) and diet coke. Its only £1.48 at our local club for vodka and diet coke - but having said that, I cant wait to get back and have a 6 lira vodka, at least I know I will be amongst lovely people and great weather

I would agree with the original poster, smoking in restaurants is very annoying, especially the ignorant gits that sit and smoke whilst you are still eating.

If you want to smoke fine, but don't inflict your filthy habit on the rest of us.

I can't wait for the ban to extend out there, and see all you desparate fag junkies huddled outside the bars having your fix.

It looks like the festive season is upon us.
Peace and goodwill to all men.
Compassion understanding,give and take.

We soon forget why we like our hosts in Turkey.

Have I gone off the Topic.

For the anti smokers - please stay in England in your non smoking EMPTY bars with all the relevant businesses going bankrupt ,also do not forget that the vast majority of your hosts smoke.

I don't think anyone wants to see this degenerate into a smoking debate - maybe we should all try to stick to the original topic. A bit of consideration and respect for those around you is all that's needed, surely?
