I agree with Jozzyd. Why not try Kerem on the canal directly opposite Venice. They do lovely Turkish food - but for fussy eaters, they also do the usual alternative menu. We went in August and had a lovely meal - can't remember what is was called though :?

went the one with real chinese cook

went the chinese off the old road... meal was ok... chicken satay... the waiter asked what the meal was like.. i said the chicken was rubbery... he said "oh thanks very much"

We always go to Kingsland, but this year the food was very poor.

Even though it was an all you can eat, we only had a starter, main, 1x beer and a fanta and were charged extra for pudding.

Not sure if it has changed hands, but we won't be going back in a hurry, as it turned out to be the most expensive meal we had over the whole holiday.

That included a 3 course, with a nights worth of drinks at Charlies Place which is usually our extravant one off meal every year.

Wont be going back to Kingsland again.

Can;t rate Massala enough, we had an Indian there this year, and the staff were brilliant and the food was 1st class.

we asked for crispy beef at kingsland and it wasnt crispy and not even sure it was beef...other than that it was ok..

Best Chinese Restaurant

In my opinion you cannot beat Majestic for their Chinese dishes and set meals. They do a set meal for 2 people which includes a bottle of wine, for £22.

Secondly, I'm no snob, but I would not be seen dead eating somewhere called Bullshits!

Hi JB, if you can get over the name am sure you won't be disappointed

it's really good value too.

the folk that go in are usually the same ones who've been on the boat trip so it's nice to catch up through the holiday - really friendly atmosphere and lovely staff

we used to go in the Majestic a lot but found it was getting a bit pricey and to be honest, spent too much time trying to compete with the Venice

This one is on my 'lets eat at list' cant wait to try it.

Masala was top class.

Freshly cooked food at reasonable prices and a very nice cheap wine

Staff were excellent also

Couldn't fault it :-)

We have always found the chinese in Dreamboys very good also. Their sizzling dishes are really lovely. Can work out a bit pricey as you have to pay extra for your rice, but well worth it.

Our best friend is hoping to open a Chinese kitchen down by the canal next year. Hope everything goes well for him. Obviously we will have to support him, and maybe give him a few tips!

12 Oct 2008 12:08

well guys I listened to your advice and the MASALA was the best curry on holiday by far. The Indian food in particular was fabulous as good if not better than my local Indian

people in our apartment tried the KINGSLAND and they were very disappointed. I also tried the PEKING and that was also very good and very very cheap. Starters, main course 3 diet cokes and a free half bottle of wine 41 lira

xslkx, totally agree about the Venice Chinese food - I'll usually get a couple of starters rather than one main course though

like you, am a great fan of the Venice - apart from their Steak and Kidney pie, which turned out to be Steak and Liver ha ha
it was very nice though, if you like liver that is

We had the set meal for 45 lira in Kingsland twice last week.
Chicken and sweetcorn soup.
Chinese salad.
Spring Rolls
Egg fried rice with chicken, chicken chow mein, sweet and sour chicken, beef in black bean sauce.
Price included a bottle of wine.

The second visit we swapped the soup and chinese salad for spare ribs at no extra cost. Both meals were delicious and even Phill enjoyed them who is the most fussy eater I have ever known.

Best £10 per head meal we had and there was no rush in between courses. I will definitely be back next year.

I tried the Kingsland in 2005 and it was disgusting!!

went back in 2007 and tried the Peking instead it was awesome!! I prefer to my local chinese here!! went twice in that holiday.

2008: back to peking and it was just as good as I remembered if not better! ate in there 3 times. And went back again when I stayed in marmaris for a week! The guys are fab and the food is great, Prices are very good too :D Love it. Can't recommed it enough.
