Hi,
Have finally got round to putting on our holiday review. Have been back since 2nd September and was in Icmeler for the last two weeks of school holidays.
Anyway, had to fly from Jersey so left on Friday afternoon to Gatwick at 2.30 for a 10.00p.m. flight from Gatwick. No delays and a very smooth flight with Onur Air. Got the ICR transfers - very prompt and efficient and good driving as usual. Got to our Hotel (Golmar) at 7 on Saturday morning and sent my other half and son to get lilos etc.
Spent the next two weeks chilling out, enjoying the kids and the usual holiday stuff e.g. boat trips etc. Met some of the best people out there. Would go down to the pool after breakfast and it would take me till lunchtime before I finally sat down after talking to everyone there. If your reading this, hi to Tim, Lin, Adam, (great family and hope to meet up with you at Christmas) Gary, Tracey, Jordan, Danielle and Nicolle (Blackpool) and thanks for doing Georgia's hair! - and Gary and Ann, (Ann won the Kareoke competition one night in the Deniz Kapiz (spelling?!) and ended up having a brilliant night. Also to Jane and James and your lovely daughter (from down South) (sorry I can't remember her name). it made our holiday!
Kareoke Bar down by the Beach, Deniz Kapiz place, worth a visit. Nothing too much trouble. We were a party of 15 and every single meal was delicious as were most of the meals we had in Icmeler.
Sought out the usual haunts and some new ones. Only discovered the Canal with the market stalls this year and found The Venice restaurant. Ended up there most evenings. How fit was the guy that organised the entertainment!!!! (one for the girlies).
Also definately worth a mention was The First Moon Restaurant. One of the waiters recognised us from last year when he worked at Marios (and the fact that he married an Evertonian and my other half is an Evertonian too!). anyway, we spent a few nights in there. Monday nights was Carribean night. The guys in there were really great. One of them (the one who married the Evertonian) ended up getting my son a Fenebache football strip from one of the shops across the road. How nice is that? Oh and I won the musical chairs competition! - ha ha
Did a few boat trips with the Hotel. One of my favourite moments was sat on the boat, Bob Marley, playing, with sun on my face and not thinking about work at all !!!
Looked out for you Dotty (and your sister) but must have missed you. We left on Monday the 1st Sept. Anyway, I am sure and hope you had a lovely holiday.
John went to watch the match (Everton) a couple of times but didn't manage to get to the Three Bells - will defo try and get up there in May. This is going on Bec's recommendation.
Oh, we did have one bit of a let down and that was the Pop Inn. We spent a lot of time there last year and the staff were really really lovely. Went back this year and food didn't seem as good and the staff had all changed. Maybe expecting too much but only went there once and maybe should have given it another shot. On the upside, Joseph from the Pop Inn is now in Venice (I think) and recognised us from last year. Was made more than welcome. (Bless)
Having spent 17 days in Icmeler was still not ready to go home but it all came too quickly. Transfer back with ICR was fab, no fuss, no waiting, just get the cases in (give Kerim a quick snog!!!) and back to Airport.
flight was delayed by about an hour but not much of a problem to us as we had an overnight stay in Gatwick before flying back to Jersey on the Tuesday.
Have now booked to go back twice next year (the credit card is groaning under the strain! but hey you only live once!), May Half Term and again last two weeks in School holidays. Can't believe what a pull Icmeler has on us. Hoping more of our family with join us next year as don't see so much of them living away from home. (Exeter and Liverpool)
Have rabbited on enough but enough to know that its a brilliant place and can't wait to get back
Jane. x
