Travel from Bodrum to Icmeler

11 May 2006 18:46

Can anyone tell me how easy it is to travel from Bodrum to Icmeler and roughly how long it takes. We're booked to go to Icmeler in August but just got a cheap week in Gumbet on 21 May and thought we might take a trip down to Icmeler

Dotty,

I don't know how easy it is to travel from Bodrum to Icmeler, but according to an earlier post somewhere the journey takes about 2 1/2 hours. Mind you, that was ICR transfer times, so it might take longer if you were doing the journey by bus.

Hi Dotty,

I made the journey from Altinkum to Icmeler last September. I caught a minibus from Altinkum to Aydin which took about 2 hours as it visited lots of towns on the way, then caught lovely air-conditioned coach from Aydin to Marmaris which took about another 1 1/2 hours. i didn't pre-book anything just bought tickets on the way, and the coaches seemed to run fairly regularly.

Hope that helps

I may be wrong but I am sure you can get hydrofoil/ferry from Bodrum to Marmaris.

Hi, Bodrum to Icmeler travel. We did this last year, but the other way round. You can travel by hydrofoil from Bodrum to a place called Chumlah (this is not the correct spelling) Chumlah is about 5 miles outside Marmaris, you can then get a taxi into Marmaris or Icmeler. However I understand that tours are available that include the whole package. We did it independantly the Cost of the Hydrofoil was £18 last year and we hired a car at very reasonable cost. We did it again by hire car and the journey took about 3 hours, this gave us a lot more freedom for return times as the hydrofoil leaves at about 4pm and departs at about 10am not a long day to see so much. If you do go by hydrofoil independantly please stop for brekfast at the top of the hill at a place called Chinnah (again wrong spelling but help with pronounciation)This place is very turkish, serves the best traditional turkish food at very reasonable prices in fantastic suroundings not to be missed! hope this helps :

We took a lot less than two and half hours with Icmeler online when we transferred from Gumbet to Icmeler the year before last. We left our hotel in Gumbet at 9am and we were in the Iguana Icmeler for 10.30. If you going to do bus or boat you might be as well booking overnight in a hotel and then you can flavour the nightlife as well.
