When I was in Icmeler in May there was a chap staying in our hotel who arrived via Bodrum, his visa was for one month, we honestly thought he was mistaken, but he showed us and it was just one month and it was a UK passport. Was it an error in Bodrum?

Lucy, the exact same thing happened to my friend this year. Her Visa was due to run out the day we were coming home, but she asked at passport control going in, and he assured her it was fine and that it ran up to midnight on the day. On the return journey she was stopped and explained what she'd been told and they agreed that it was their fault, but said that she still had to pay £50 fine or be banned from Turkey for 5 years !!! As she is married to a Turk and they both visit Turkey and his home town quite often, obviously she had to pay the fine. It got worse, because she didn't have £50 in cash (they wouldn't let her use her card), so upon asking where the cash machine was, they told her it was in the departure lounge, but wouldn't let her through to get it. Her husband went through to the machine and there was no money in it. Fortunately he found the rest of us and it got sorted. She was there for absolutely ages though, and was the last on the plane. Think the moral of the story though is if your Visa is near to expiring and you're not sure - get another one.

Yes your quite right for the bodrum visas, some are showing 1 month visa, the reason for this we are unsure about but when you look closely at the visa, in small writting it states permitted to stay for 90 days.We did check this out with the airport police at bodrum, and they were fully aware of it, and assured us that the customers would have no problems .

As for the visa only lasting 1 month , yes there has been rumours of this and like everything, these could also be susceptible to change, if they do change of course we will notify people as soon as we are made aware of it.

In the meantime ,always, no matter where you travel, try to take the time to make a mental note of the writting the visa has on it, it should have english writting on the visa stating the expiry.Updated visa information to all countries can be found at the relevant embassies and consulates.
In regard to turkey the link below for the turkich consulate in london is very informative on lots of questions and topics often enquired about.

We have been going to Icmeler for 10 years and this is the first year we have been on a package normally get my own flight and use ICR for transfer and accomodation but as I only like a day flight it was coming up at £386 each so I just checked for package and got the whole thing for £300 so a saving over £240 we still used ICR for transfer and trips I didnt see the TC rep at all once I told them we had private transfer and then again when I saw at departures.

The way some people have been treated is terrible, but Gene you added comedy to your account and it did make me laugh, Ann is like the rest of us women, WE are used to being in charge and we just always have to have the last say  We go on Friday, and we've had two visits between us this year, but I'll be taking no chances, think I'll pay for us both just to make sure. The last thing I want to do is make a call to my kids whilst staring at an official with dogs, gloves  etc and saying,
"there's been a problem at the airport."

I must point out that during my time in the office in Dalaman we were treated with the utmost courtesy and respect.
My daughter who had already gone through passport control came back through to see were we had gotten to.
One officer did say you are not allowed back through the control but the man in charge said it was ok and she stayed with us in the office.

None of this would have happened if the visa was re-newed before the expirey date so dont let us blame the officers who are only doing their job.

It is our own responsability to make sure our visas are in date.

Unless you have a Mrs Gene who will argue with you till the cows come home.
