Not too sure if they charge for Travellers cheques. But i think its easier taking cash.

Just had a look on m&s again and its gone down to 1.99!! :(

exchange rate

if you look at the website moneysavingexpert, there are certainly better rates around that 1.99 but by my calculations, if we had got the money changed in May or June, I would have been about £200 better off. Ho hum!

02 Sep 2008 10:39

ooo il have a look on there now then, yeah when i was there in may it was 2.35!

Just returned and the rate is dropping. Could get 2.10 from apartments but heard that Burea de change was only paying 1.98ytl / £. Most of restuarants if paying in English will give at least 2.00ytl.

The supermarkets, apartments etc don't charge for changing travellers cheques,

:D Good news, see the exchange rate has gone up a little over the last couple of days on the currency markets to 2.22/2.23, wandered want rate you can get in the resort today. Looked on the ICR home page but where the exchange rate should be is blank :?

11 Sep 2008 14:39

Thats good news, lets hope it continues to rise.

11 Sep 2008 15:17

Hi jonjon
Been waching it myself on www.xe.com and touch wood its rising and holding at the closing rate.although its presently at 2.209

dont think ICR can keep up with the vast fluctuation,

What ever they print will be out of date and then they will be
accused of "telling porkies"

The exchange rate is up and down by the minutes so that is a reason.

Its not just the Lira though as the US Dollar is down from $1.98 a few weeks ago to $1.69 to the Quid    and who would have thought a few years ago that you would only get 1 euro 22 cents to the Quid    so wherever you are going on holiday thi year or next you are going to get less for your Quid

Hi All
I know its probably a bit insignificant due to todays problems.
But the exchange rate seems to be recovering slightly
Its holding above 2.2, best its been for a while, its actualy 2.22/2.24,
at this moment,
Hopefully its on a slow climb to better times.

So probably "Tommy Cowboy" will be offering about 1.88 !!!
