we were having a lovely evening in richards place when one of our party mentioned he fancied a guinness but richards didnt serve it so quick as a flash one of the barman david hopped over the wall jumped on a motobike and roared off 5minutes later he rode thew the bar on the motobike and deliverd 4 cans of guinness still on motobike straight to the table

that's what I call service. For a moment whilst reading, I thought you were going to say he arrived back with a pint! Now that would have been even more of a surprise.

Isn't it lovely the way they make you feel like the most important person there, the place can be full yet most of them still give there undivided attention.

That's one of the things I just love about Icmeler - nothing it soo much bother!
I used to go on holiday with my sister and she is a banana split addict. One night we were in a restaurant and she ordered her usual banana split but they'd run out of bananas.... so a little waiter gets his bike out, cycles up to the supermarket and comes back with a bunch of bananas to make her dessert for her.
Now if you were in England and they'd run out of bananas they'd just tell you it was off the menu!

A couple of years ago I had problems with the cashline machines everytime I tried to get money out I could'nt This was the first time that I had never gone without just cash and panick started to kick in.

We went to Set for a meal and the owner there told us not to worry he offered to give us cash and we could eat in the restaurant, until we got the problem sorted and that he would take us to the bank of the Monday to get things sorted out.

Eventually we did get cash out the machines but it spoilt the start of our hols and I've never used a machine since. I still get panick attacks when I go past them


One of the many the reasons I love Icmeler and return year after year our lovely Turkish friends.

I always laugh to myself when we go to my favourite jewellers in Icmeler.

We're always offered a seat, then a glass of chilled wine, then a cigarette.... and I also get offered to "play" with the latest batch of loose gem stones he's had delivered - last time it was diamonds WOW he gave me those long tweezer things... mum broke out into a cold sweat reminding me of the scene from Pretty Woman with the snails whilst I was trying to pick up a diamond worth about £1,500!!!

You can just see that happening in your usual high street jewellers can't you!!!!

Two years ago, we spotted someone we knew from our first visit who worked in the hairdressers, my daughter shouted him and he came over all smiles hugs and kisses, told us he was working somewhere else (we had reaslised that cos the place had closed down from the previous year), he said meet me on Sunday morning 11 am outside The Welcome Inn and I will take you to the hairdressers I am working at. At first we thought shall we sharnt we? Anyway we went at 11 am Sunday, he wasnt there, so we decided to go for a drink while we waited in the Welcome Inn, after a while the waiter said are you waiting for someone we said yes and told him who we were waiting for, and said oh I know him, got out his mobile phone and rang, then came back and said he is on his way. About 15 minutes later he jumped off the Dolmus, collected us, caught another Dolmus, paid the fairs, took us out into the Old Village as far as you can go I think cos we started wondering where on earth is he taking us. anyway we got off at the terminus and he took us to the hotel where he was working in the hairdressers there, we were all seen to, hair braids, husbands shave, I ended up having my eyebrows done and a face mask, beers and drinks all round. Then when we were ready to go, we said ok we will go and get the bus back he said no, no, my boss will take you, who then got his car and took us back to our apartments! now thats a new meaning to mobile hairdressing!.

A hotel we stayed in (Not ICR) the owner wanted to take Phill and I out to dinner, and he invited another lady with her Daughter who we had got friendly with as well. We just got in his car one evening and he drove for about 10 - 15 minutes outside of Marmaris up in the mountains somewhere, then pulled into the most fantastic place I have ever been in.

This place was in the middle of nowhere and we had the choice to eat in warm huts or eat outside besides springs, flower gardens and trees. As this was a lovely evening in May 2007, we sat outside. We all ate like Kings and Queens, numerous mezes, followed by Roast Lamb that was cooked in a clay oven, followed with fresh fruit for desert with a few bottles of wine.

After a pleasant time eating and drinking, he asked if we were ready to return. We all stood up and followed him, expecting to be taken to pay the bill, which Phill and I, and the lady with her Daughter had already decided between ourselves that we would pay to treat the Hotel Owner. How wrong - he would not allow us to pay for anything. He told us it was his way of thanking us, for the custom we had given to his Hotel.

This genuine friendliness with the Turkish people never ceases to amaze me.

Some people keep asking, why do you keep returning to the same place, but I just cant put into words to tell them how we feel. My Sister is one of these people, but I have managed to talk her into coming with us next year to Icmeler with her Husband. She will stay for 1 week, while Phill and I will be there for 2 weeks. I am sure she will fall in love with Icmeler the same as we all have.

Yes, I'm still here, getting my last few hours of ICR before jetting off (sad I know).

I bought a rather expensive bracelet 3 years ago, and when I went to collect it from the jewellers, and finally decided to buy it, I needed to go to the cash machine to get cash to pay for it. I had the bracelet on, went to take it off, while I went to get the cash, but the guy insisted I kept it on while I went!!!

Now that's trust

That's what I love. When people say to me they don't like Turkey because of the hassle, I always say yes they hassle you, but once youre through that door, you're served like royalty. Nothing is to much trouble. When I run out of Cigs they never let me go to the Shop they go for me, and just add it to the bill, they just charge me what they paid for them.

Don't think you'd get it anywhere else.

A few years ago, Nancy got a horrible bout of prickly heat all over her face.
At about 1 in the morning we were in Sugars bar and her face was so sore and itchy she was in tears. Sugar took her to our hotel in the car, then took me to Marmaris to the all night chemist, told the chemist what we needed, (got it cheap too) then ran me back to the hotel, waited, and took me back to the Buffalo.

Whilst doing aconga outside the dream bells bar in May this year ( don't ask!) my flip flop fell apart one of the guys whizzed it from me and ran up the road with it, he returned in about ten mins and it was fully repaired! I tried to pay him but he wouldn't accept, so I had to sneak a tip via another waiter to him to say thanks. Can't imagine that happening here!
