Raki

Postby marjorie arnold » 29 Jul 2008 15:03

My favourite is Raki and Sprite...I order a raki, a can of sprite and an empty glass as their measures of raki are large and I need to dilute it quite a bit otherwise it is like Falling Down Water. I see a lot of people drinking it neat at the same time drinking a glass of water with it. Tried it,but the pavement didn't half wobble on the way back to the hotel. It tastes like pernod or ouso...........so be warned, but enjoy.
Cheers

I couldn't drink ti neat, or with water.

Yes everywhere sells raki and cherry juice. They use the cherry juice for some of the cocktails so they always have it in.

hi beech,

I suppose its like us Scots putting lemonade in our whisky!!! I know some peole find it abhorrent.I personally don't like whisky but sometimes have a penchant for raki and coke. The first time my wife Sharon asked for it she got the same response, but afterwards the barman said it tasted quite nice!!

Raki straight is not recommended unless you want to be drunk the next day as well, even the Turkish people have it with water.

Saki and cherry

Postby jivebunnie0 » 30 Jul 2008 22:08

My friend was taking 2 bottles of Raki home with her, put them on the conveyor belt to go through the x/ray, and unfortunately they were through the other side, before she could get to them  Dalaman airport stunk of Raki and everyone was getting drunk on the fumes
