Kurt Apartments 28th June - 13th July 2008 Review

16 Jul 2008 19:58

Been back for a few days and now the washings done i've got time to give our review. Booked holiday for 6 of us through Icmeleronline and the flights were Aegean with British Midland. Arrived Glasgow Airport and joined the queue with our etickets. There was a lot of confusion at the check in desk as very few people had tickets, just the letters from Aegean/H4U with all our details on. After a semi heated discussion (the check in staff wanted us to go and wait elsewhere until a rep came to deal with us then go back into the queue - don't think so!) and a phone call, we were then told it was okay and to check in. Flight was 1/2 hour late taking off which is reasonable. Once on the flight I wasn't feeling very well and have never been like this before, all I wanted was to get to my bed. We landed 15 mins after our origional landing time (great) and went right through visa and passport control. Our suitcases (all 6 of them) were the first ones on the belt and we eagerly went outside to find our Icmeleronline driver, it was only 25mins after leaving plane. Found our driver and was told to wait at the side (oh no, just wanted to go straight to apartments and get to bed). After a half hour wait our fellow passengers arrived and we went on our way. Great I would soon be in bed, Not. We had to go to Marmaris first to drop off some people before heading on to Icmeler. We were the next to be dropped off - great and in all it took 2 hours to get from Dalaman to our apartments. I was in a foul mood and crabbit, but greatful to now be in my appartment with some privacy. After 2 hours sleep I felt great and got up to brilliant sunshine. The Kurt apartments were quite busy this year after being empty last year and it was good to meet some people from the forum - Janetfromthe loch and her husband John who were great company (Victor, Jack misses you)! as well as Sandra & Wullie and Steve & Sue. Some people who arrived a few days after us had problems with the apartments and the Kurts, but as we didn't, I won't go into them here as others may be going to these apartments and it wouldn't be fair. I will say watch your bar bill and don't let the son charge you £5 for air conditioning, it is only £3 with Icr and don't believe him when he tells you it will only be on for 8 hours, ours never went off. Apart from the hard beds, we had a great time at these apartments and would possibly go back. Breakfast was 6 lira 50 and you got a full fry up with the works, we didn't eat a meal there so cannot comment on that. There is too many places to eat out at and they are little bit more expensive than last year, but still great value for money. We spent between 140-175 lira per night for the 6 of us. That was 6 two course meals and 2 drinks each (cola is the same price as beer). My oldest son had steaks every night and they were priced around 24 lira, where else would you get a beautiful steak meal for about £10. We ate at the 3 Bells, Captain Bullsh*ts x2, Friends, Kingsland, Robin Hoods x2, Sylvia's x2, Noels x2, Lemon Tree (meal not very good), Wayside, and had a few carry out meals. The temperatures were roasting hot the 2 weeks we were there and we had 2 afternoons (last fri and sat) where we had thunder, lightning and blissfull rain for about 2 hours - wonderfull! All to soon it was time for us to return to reality and our 2 weeks were over. Our Icr driver picked us up and reluctantly we boarded our minibus to go to the airport. Thankfully our flight home was better, with no stomach pains. Unfortunately we are not returning to Icmeler next year as it is our silver wedding anniversary and we are going to Cuba, so it will be 2 years before we return. I hope I haven't bored everyone with this review as I do go on! Jean, John, Scott, David, Nichola and Stephen.
