I agree with Fanny on the hassle thing, I went to Rhodes last year and was a bit put out that we got no attention whatsoever from the bar or restuarant owners, 
wierd isn't it,? 
think because as most people have said, a polite no thanks is enough these days to stop the hassle. It's our 25th anniversary this year and we plan to buy each other a nice piece of white gold jewellry, and am prepared for battle with the jewellers, 
I usually say no thanks but we really would like nice jewellry this time so I'll have to put a day aside in preparation.

I was watching a programme on Ibiza last night on Living TV and it highlighted people looking for PR jobs for the clubs and bars. Apart from confirming that I still dont fancy going to Ibiza - it set me off thinking, that we dont have any PR's in Icmeler and I dont remember seeing them in MArmaris or Olu Deniz either.
Now those PR's are 70 million times worse than a nice Turkish waiter coming to talk to you politely asking you to look at the menu.
And casting my mind back to Majorca holidays even in Alcudia you got them all the time and timeshare touts as well.
So thinking back, I can cope with the Turkish hassle, and actually enjoy the banter in a strange sort of way. I ignore the hairdressers, they haven't got the gift of the gab like the waiters.
God help it if we start getting proper PR's, maybe this is what Icmeler's mayor doesnt want to happen.

I totally agree with you Bev, I found the PR's trying to drag you into bars all the time in Ibiza a complete nightmare. Alcudia I was hounded by timeshare touts. Top of the list for me has to be Tenerife if I wasn't being dragged into a bar it was the scratchcard timeshare touts doing my head in.
I ignore the hairdressers and jewellers but I enjoy some of the hassle from bars and restaurants and the friendly banter. I would have missed out on some great nights and not tried some places if I hadn't have been persuaded in.
Thinking about it countries I've been to when I haven't minded the hassle so much are when it comes from local people trying to earn a living. The hassle in Goa, Thailand and Vietnam was unbelievable but you could have a friendly chat and a bit of banter with them like you can in Turkey. I always marvel at how gifted some of these people are, luckily I'm not easily parted with my cash.
My son made me laugh when we were watching the last series of the apprentice he said he'd love to see a team of frontmen from Turkish reataurants doing one of the sales tasks.

Hi got back a week ago 
...anyway had a wonderful time as usual, but we found the hassle came from the hairdressers, we were ok with their offer when we had come from the pool or beach looking like worzel gummidge a polite "no thankyou" was accepted, after offering the eyebrows and nails aswell, But when we had gone through the effort of doing hair and make up to go out for the evening and they asked it was annoying 
The bars and resturants were fine just being friendly..was fab to be there role on September when im back

To be honest, I've never felt bothered by the "hassle" - it's all part of the Turkey experience as far as I'm concerned, and it's a refreshing change from the real hassle of the timeshare touts, etc, which I've experienced in other countries. I do know what some people are saying about the hairdressers though - there was one down by the canal who asked me every day if I wanted my hair or my eyebrows done. I was beginning to get a complex about it by the end of the week!

In Gran Canaria they would hassle you to come into a bar then, they would ask you if you wanted to buy any drugs

Hairdressers are definately the worst, I have a No 2 cut a few days before travelling so I stay cool and I still get asked of I want a haircut, my youngest daughter actually tries to hide her hair now as it is so long (Below the bum) that she is constantly asked if she wants it braiding.
I might get some t-shirts printed with a no hassel accepted logo.

Maybe Rami can feed back about the hairdressers, so that they get shut down like the bars/restaurants.
Maybe its time to stop being polite with the hairdressers and get bit rude or pretend we cant speak English but I think they can spot us a mile off, especially us blondes with red faces.
Love the Worzel comment Pauline, my hair looks like that after swimming / sea water in it as well. then shoved in pony tail at night cos I have too much hair so dont need insulating.

We were in the old village, and had to walk past about 4 hair dressers more or less on our doorstep they asked us every time. I decided to go into one, and it was supposed to be a £3 shave ended up costing me £35 by the time they had finished with me. I think that also puts people off going in, because they know they wont settle at letting you leave without buying something else.
Hassle doesn't bother me so much, but I can see why people get upset.

It's so good they been relized that with hassle they not gonna get customers.. With good food, good service, nice stuff they are making business 
I been staied in icmeler quite long time (lived there) and its always such a shame to see how finnish people doesn't travel there anymore..
Mostly reasons is that finnish people hates when somebody comes on "skin" if you know what i mean?
Of course there is people as well i would prefer regement to stay at home (people who cant handdle anything different..).
Still in restaurants they dont understand that maybe somebody doesnt like if you runing on the street hugin' strange people..
For me its not a problem, i have use to it.
And what comes to hasseling, well.. You just must let it be and keep walkin'.. And not feel sorry even they south after you
