Don't see the point of buying a hard bodied case that is going to take up at least a third of your baggage allowance soft bodied cases can take an impact better as long as they are packed properly and as for security if someone wants to get into your case they will.

bought the hard bodied cases which were very light but they got smashed to bits in dalaman we have now gone back to the fabric cases so far so good

Guys are any of your holdalls on wheels waterproof?

I know you can get fabrisil to waterproof them, I use it on my caravan awning but are any waterproof to start with?

I would hate it to get soaked and the "pink" colour ran into all my clothes

I wasn't sure if mine was waterproof so what I done was pack piles of clothes into white swing bin liners and they were fine. Was able to reuse the bin liners too

Yes I thought I would put a bin bag inside the holdall and put the clothes in that, not worried about coming home as most of my clothes are too big now, so they will be staying over there

Thanks for everyone's replies, I ended up going to Matalan and getting the holdall type of bags on wheels for £20 each as suggested by someone on here, they turned out to be the best type of case I've ever bought. They are a lot lighter than a normal suitcase and hold loads, in fact when me and OH came back from Icmeler yesterday our bags only weighed 17 kg each. We had been careful as we didn't want to get charged but still had a lot of stuff in them.

Word of warning.....son in law works as a baggage handler in a UK airport. When he first started, he was shocked at how bags and cases were thrown on the planes. Fragile means nothing to them and a sticker which indicates a case is overweight irritates them so please dont put anything fragile in your cases or bags, even worse make sure it dosent say fragile and overweight!!!
