Nationwide Flex account and a couple of money questions.

Postby Annie.f » 29 Jun 2008 10:08

We are just looking at the best way to take spending money to Icmeler. I already have £500 in Lira put aside and was planning to take another £500 in English. Anything else we were going to draw out of the bank with our Debit card. Is it worth us applying for the nationwide card? Or shall we just stick to our normal debit card (co-op premier account) Im not bothered about paying a small fee every time we draw some money out (a few quid?) as we will prob draw out £200 a time if we need to. Hubby gets paid right in the middle of the holiday so we will probably need some more cash anyway at the rate we spend it!! I remember last time we went to Icmeler 06, a lot of shops took english money, but cant remember if the Restaurants did??. Anyone know how much the banks charge to use a debit card in the ATMs over there? Also if it is worth getting a Nationwide card, how long does it take to apply and get one? and lastly do you think £500 each of Lira/English is the right way to go??

I used my abbey account in may and they only charged a few qwid, but when i got back a got a nation wide account online, but mine seemed to take ages about 3 weeks with it all, so if you do get one make sure that uve got time before you go on holiday.

Hii I use a nationwide flexie account everytime i go to Icmeler and have never had any problems. I always take some lira and then take my card for when I run out of that.

yeah also if you use the HSBC cash machine in icmeler you can take out £'s instead of lira as you get a better rate from shops than you do at the bank when changing money. I opened my nationwide account at the bank and i got my account details there and then and waited 3 days for my card. I never go on holiday without my nationwide card now.

oh by the way all resturants will take english pounds but alot of resturants dont give you a good exchange rate so its best to change it at one of the little markets shops before you go to the resturant.
