different nationalities

Over the years of going to Icmeler we have actually met a couple of Germans, and some Americans who were very nice.
I know lots of different nationalities visit Icmeler but i am just curious as to how many of you have met & chatted with people from other countries.
The bars we visit are predominatley frequented by British people who we often have a laugh with and its nice to chat and get to know each other, but i do also like to try and speak to different cultures etc when possible.

Hi Higgs - I'm from the oul sod myself and have been to Icmeler twice last year - got totally hooked. I'm looking forward to going again in September. No matter where you come from or what language you speak the locals in Icmeler will give you a great welcome. How they pick up all the different dialects I'll never know.

We have spent quite a lot of time in the company of both Dutch and Germans and found them to be really nice. Found the Dutch to be of a similar sense of humour to us, and the Germans a bit more serious, but very nice nevertheless.

Also met plenty of Irish people in Icmeler - a laugh a minute and kind, lovely people.

Talking of different nationalities .Is it true that for the first two weeks in July there will be a lot of blue skinned ( as Billy Connolly said) skirt wearing men from some foreign land arriving in Icmeler .

Yes, July is when a lot of we Scots will embark on our hols, but for is, we're coming from June 21 to 28. I'll be the one with the peely-wally skin - and will probably go home not much browner, as I don't tan easily! Watch out for the Jambos in Icmeler that week!

What I find intersting is that when you do meet other nationalities, espaecially Dutch, or German is that they can speak fairly good english. How many of us could speak back with them in their language. generally we brits are very poor at languages

I met a Russian guy last year called Victor. Such a funny bloke and loved a drink and I mean REALLY LOVED a drink. I can sink a few Efes' but this guy just drank shorts all day!.
I am still in contact with him now via email.

Saw loads of Russians this year - what a vile lot they are too !!!

Germans and Danes were all nice, well they aknowledged you (good morning, evening etc), allowed you to pass by etc. The Russians were vile the whole lot of them.

We went to Rhodes for the day and were picked up bang on time, picked up 2 other stops then got to a big A/I hotel by the harbour and waited and waited and waited, saw a man outside smoking then dissappeared back into the hotel, came back out had another fag, then slowly made his way over to the coach, the guy asked if he was for Rhodes he said yes and asked where the other were as he was meant to be picking up 3 more from that pick up, he said he'd get his wife and son - he went back to the hotel, came back with them and the driver asked have you got your passports with you ?? NO they said, do we need them ?? Erm YEAH you're going to another country

So the wife goes to get them out the safe in their room, eventually comes back then says she hasn't got her watch on and need to go back and get it - by this point everyone on the coach is doing their nut, 20 mins after getting there and they get on the coach, no apology or anything for the inconvenience/delay they'd caused

We go to pick up at another hotel and nobody was there, then we see an Italian couple running down the hill from a taxi they'd just flagged down to take them to the port in Marmaris because they'd been waiting so long. We get to the port and the Russians shove their way past everyone on the coach to try and get off first, we all line up and wait for instructions on what to do and eveyone lines up to pay for their port tax and the russians try and push to the front, physically shoving this lady to get out of their way, to which she turned and put her hand in the womans face and told her to WAIT !!!

They shoved their way in all along the process of getting to the Catamoran and did the exact same thing on the way back and got shoutted at by lots of people in the queues and they didn't bat an eyelid they were totally oblivious to ho down right rude they were.

Had the same when we went to Ephesus, they have NO idea about queues or just plane old common decency, we never met a single one who had any manners.

The turks in the restaurats and bars didn't like them much either as they're all A/I and not buying in the resorts and it's seriously effecting them.

we had the same problem on the boat trip a few years ago, the russians all stormed up stairs to get the sun beds, then they were dropped off at cleopatra island for the afternoon, but they left their towels on the sunbeds which the captain duly moved and told us brits we could sit there for the rest of our time. when the russians came back on a few hours later they demanded that they have their sunbeds back, but us brits stood our ground and refused to move, some of them got quite nasty but i was not going to move for anyone

I am from Holland myself and really nice to read all the possitif things that you are writting about the other nationallity's. Rusian people are actually a problem every where. Nobody is happy to have them, l work in a hotel myself and my experience with them are also very bad. In Icmeler more and more Rusian people are comming now and yes they all take A/I wich is really bad for the restaurants. Also they rude and they have a bad drink on them. Offcourse not all Rusian people are like that, but the ones comming to Icmeler mostly are like that. In there country the probely are rich people and that makes them quit arrogant l think. To be honest the Dutch people also choose A/I lots of times haha. Nice to see that the most of the English people choose B&B, l prefer that myself too. My experience with English people are very good, allways in the good mood and in for a party.

I met a dutch lad in Kusadasi last year I spent most of the days talking to him at the bar while the wife toasted on her sunbed she did,nt mind as long as i kept her lotion topped up . It ended up with 5 of us socialising[drinking] dutch english french turkish and russian .It took 20 mins to say it was hot and all agreeing on the outcome.

I think the Scandinavians Dutch and some Germans are great very polite very much like ourselves.
Always seem to chat with the Dutch plus i love their way of playing football
