Supermarkets

Postby hillbilly » 04 Jun 2008 17:53

Arrive on June 9th from Manchester. Just 5 sleeps left. Really getting into holiday mode now but just a thought. Last year the nearest supermarket to the appts. was one of those that doesn't price anything. We were holding our breath everytime we got to the checkout. This year we are staying at the Iguana appts. Can anyone recall a decent supermarket nearby or is Tansas close.
Thanks
Vince

Hi Vince

theres a supermarket under the Iguana aparts I think - next to the CHill Bar
apparently they do the best exchange rate too

Tansas is only a 5/10 min walk though if you want to do your "big shop"

On the same subject has anybody shopped at the Migros in Marmaris and if so how do the prices compare to the Tansas.

Think we will be adventurist and have a go at shopping at Migros but will not be tempted to MacDonald’s not to keen on them prefer KFC

If I remember right I think Migros only take Turkish Lira at the checkout but I'm sure someone on the forum will know for sure. They are much cheaper and have a bigger selection. I like all the other bits and pieces they sell as well as food :) :)

you're very welcome hb
think we're in the twilight zone - cue music ha ha

seriously though, there are 2 forums one for Icmeler and another for Marmaris CR, but there are more Icmeler than Marmaris posts I think

looks like Lewis had his Marmaris head on when he replied without noticing which forum it was in

We have a Turkish friend who was over staying with us earlier on this year and he was telling me that there is now a Tesco in Marmaris, so maybe cheaper than Migros too.

Migros and tansas are owned by the same company now. Tansas is generally cheaper than migros though it does depend on what offers are on at the time. If you are getting the bus to migros its as easy to go to tansas in Marmaris and grab yourself a kebab from across the road - nicer and cheaper than BK and Mcds!!! Little tip as well there is a baklava shop across the road from BK that does the nicest Turkish desserts to take away!!!

Hey Lewis, apologies, just seemed a little odd that the post veered from a supermarket under Iguana apartments to Migros in Marmaris
