Often seen Wine on display, has anyone tried it, our friends who are coming with us this year like the odd glass or 4 of a nice light fruity red, I would imagine Turkish wine to be quite heavy similar to Greek wine, and more information

We had a lovely bottle of wine from a restaurant near the Amor, it was lovely but not so lovely on the pennies though, I think we spent over a hundred Lira on the wine and two meals

Our friends love red wine,last year were not impressed,they said they are not going to bother drinking it this year,sticking to the gin.

After reading a post on wine last year, http://www.icmeleronline.com/forum/view ... avrodaphne My wife, (who likes the odd glass or bottle, as well as the inevitable Gin!) tried the Senfoni Sweet red, from a supermarket in Icmeler, the price was reasonable and it was a nice chill out wine, (balcony etc.) as you say very similar to Greek.

It's wierd how wine is so expensive. I love my wine, but I even find from bars it's expensive if you got a glass, because it's only a small glass, and costs about 6 lira.

u can get cheap wine but is really poor
however if you want a decent bottle youll have to pay for it
someone with us last year negotiated with restaurants for half price wine with meal then picked the expensive one it worked out quite well
what about taking six bottles from the duty free though then you've got a start

try the pummakle red. I like this and you used to be able to get it from the tansas at a reasonable rate, also I believe in a supermarket near the canal. Me and my friend had a few drink on the balcony before we went out to satisfy our wine fetish. Obviously - remember its all down to the individual

obviously this is Tony's partner writing about the wine. He is an Efes man himself. Although he likes to partake in the occasional glass of wine. Our friends like this wine that much that they bring some home with them. He's out playing snooker at the moment and I'VE BEEN LET LOOSE with the computer. We go in two weeks, and I am really excited.

I enjoyed a white wine called something like Sultanye I thought it was very nice, but i'm no wine buff, just like something pleasant to drink, and it wasn't expensive.

All red wines are wasted on me as I don't have the pallate for them.

White, Rose, Zinfadel ice cold I do like with a meal and a white in Turkey I like though is kind of expensive is one called Narince but I will go for any of the cheaper ones too

For a bit of a more expensive red Yakut is nice made by the kavaklidere brand. A very drinkable though not for any wine snobs lol wine is dikmen which is available at tansas. Another nice one is Trio by pamukkale, both the white and the red are nice. The white equivalent of Dikmen is Kavak which is also drinkable. Wine can be quite pricey and sometimes the house wine is not great just ask them if you can taste it before making your mind up - any good restaurant wont mind this. Would like to add that i am not a lush (well maybe a little bit!) but i choose the wines for my husbands restaurant so get to know most of the brands and enjoy a spot of wine tasting!

Just come back and the wine was 6 lire a glass minimum and we paid 28 lire for a bottle of house white at Titanic which was very drinkable. We had a bottle at the Majestic and that was absolutely awful at the same price in fact the whole meal there was awful.

Hi,
I made the mistake of ordering a jug of Sangria to accompany a Chinese meal for two. Sangria took the cost of the meal for two, which was lovelyby the way , from 34lira up to 75 lira. Nice sangria but not worth 40 Lira.
Just be careful and ask the price before ordering

Best wine was my own home brew peach wine lovely,as for wine in general yuk stick to Efes & Bacardi.
