Thats a great story. I left my purse with a lot of money in it in a bar one night. I didn't expect to see it again but the bar staff tracked me down to where I was staying in the resort and returned it to me. Would have been long gone here in Manchester.

The Turkish people are very honest.... couldnt see anything like that happening here :(

I remember the first time we went to Icmeler when the currency was in the millions.....we paid our bill in a restaurant and left what we thought was a reasonable tip...a few minutes later, one of the guys ran after us, to our astonishment, and said " I think you don't understand our money". We had left about £40 too much

I totally agree with jivebunnie about the people being honest.
When we first went to Marmaris about 8 years ago, children used to stand along the street with a set of bathroom scales. Every night we would give a little lad our loose coins, we got to know him, his name was Ebri. One night a lady gave him a 10 million lira note instead of a 1 million (they looked very similar) he handed her it back and said too much, she didn't understand why. I explained and she cried, cuddled Ebri and gave him it back. She couldn't believe that a little lad begging was honest enough not to just keep it.

Polly that has brought back memories of my first trip to Marmaris 12 years ago. The kids with the bathroom scales oh bless they really pulled on my heart strings could not go by without giving them something. Thats a really nice story.

Haydn glad you enjoyed your trip, myself I agree I will never forget it for the rest of my life. I went on that trip whilst there on honeymoon and the Turks found out about it and showered us with gifts. They are so kind and helpful. Thats the reason why we all love Turkey so much
