1st time in Icmeler and Turkey

Postby JANUARYBABE » 18 May 2008 16:33

Hi everyone, we are going to Icmeler on 27.06.08 for 2 weeks a little apprehensive as usually go to Spain. However, heard loads of good things and we are now looking forward to our trip. The kids are 14 and fussy eaters, whats it like for shopping in supermarkerts etc?Is there a Macdonalds ? Has anyone stayed at Blue Star Apartments ? we like to be away from the hustle & bustle and I understand that this accomodation is at the back of the resort? What's the scuba diving courses or trips like and could the kids go on this course without me in the water (I am not the strongest swimmer)
Thanks for any advice and replies in advance. :)

Hi, there is loads to do for the kids, trust me you will love it! There is a mcdonalds but its in Marmaris. Every restaurant does plain burgers and chips so they will survive!

diving trips are good but make sure you go with a reputable boat, ICR should put you right. jeep safari and turtle beach are cheap trips and a must

hope this helps

Plenty of 'English' food on the menu - it's chips with everything if that's what you want - full english for £1 most places.

Not 100% sure but think you will be in the centre of the resort or the close to the centre. We're in the centre of the resort this year - don't usually like being in the middle of things but we're going prepaired with plenty of ear plugs - I'd advise you do the same - least you'll be prepaired that way - mind you I'd guess the aircon would block out any noise from outside.

ICR do loads of trips (look on excursions top of page good prices too) but you can get anything you want in resort - just be careful what you pick is covered in your travel insurance small print.

You can more or less get everything you want in the supermarkets - prices are so cheap too - if you're S/C you'll be fine there's that many supermarkets/shops to get all you'll need and more.

Hello Januarybabe and welcome. My kids were 2 and 5 last year and we had no problem whatsoever with the food. Every restaurant we went in catered for kids and my two are fussy but never didn't like what they were given. They did swap between themselves though.

For shopping bargains try the bazaars or take a trip to the market. If your kids go through MSN withdrawal symptoms, most restaurants have free internet access or they can go to the internet cafes which are reasonable priced. If you are staying near the centre don’t be to put off by the noisy bars all music has to be turned down at midnight and is strictly enforced by the local police.
Have a great time

Don't worry - my son was going through a very fussy eating stage last year when we went to Icmere (he was 12 then), but he managed fine - and Turkish meatballs became his favourite food ever. As everyone has said, you can get "normal" food almost everywhere, but encourage them to try the local food too - you might be surprised, I know I was when my son loved it!

Hi, and welcome to the forum. You are in for a real treat and won't for one minute regret going to Icmeler.

The Turkish people absolutely adore children and will go out of their way to keep them amused. Your children will also love the Turks and it will be them, as well as you, that will be wanting to go back there every year  As far as the food goes, every restaurant has a kids menu, so you can't go wrong really.

Hope you have a great time.
