I could neber buy a 1000, I would smoke them to quick. I bought 200 back from benidorm 2 weeks, and they are nearly gone, feel reaaly annoyed at myself because I gave up and only smoked on nights out, and was doing really well.

Good Idea 1000 cigs, so cheap but could not bring more than 200 each. Got stopped two years ago by customs. If I tried to smoke all these on holiday. I would be coming back in an Iron lung.
Pity me and the other half don't smoke same cigs.
Thanks Marg

£13.00 for 200 Lambert and Butler, the lady there told us that we would be allowed to buy 9 boxes each there? Does that mean you are allowed to take 1800 back into England ?

No way. The allowance is 200 per person over seventeen. Duty free will tell you anything. I think they are on commision.

If it was a proper shop then they are fakes anyway. The only place that you can get genuine english cigs in Turkey ,as far as i know, is duty free at the airport.
They will swear that they are the real deal but they are not.

There is also a duty free at the baggage collection so you can ao get them while you are waiting for your bags when you arrive at Dalaman.

While you may have passed Turkish authority it is the Customs at the UK end you have to worry about most people get through but we didn't.

Margaret
Have to agree with you Be very careful buying in shops and supermarkets
"No Tax label" "Dont buy"
Also bought dodgy Kent cigs at Dalaman on way home
Asked HM Customs about bringing back extra cigs bought in Turkey shops Tax paid labels on them Answer was "You can only have 200 per person regardless Duty free of shop bought"

From tomorrow it only effects bars and restaurents in Shopping malls and doesnt effect bars and restaurents in the resorts till July of 2009.
Then its got to be enforced and if Spain is anything to go by it will be a non starter.

This is the link to the HT site but when reading the newspaper article please read it all.

As a guilty smoker I am happy that the ban isn't coming in until next year :D

I dont suppose a lot of the Turkish people are very happy about the no smoking ban as they reckon about 50% of them are smokers. You only have to look around in the bars and a lot of the waiters are puffing away :)
They will certainly tell a difference next year.
Now the police will have another reason to visit the restaurants and bars :(

I had a discussion the other day with Turan from Florida restaurant.

People who go outside to smoke (as in the family who were there with me last week) anyway as they are used to doing it now in the UK and also all the other people who will be forced outside if there is no outside terrace will talk of course to the doorman.

The police and council in the over zealous behaviour will now see these people and consider the doorman to be hassling them and then close the place for 3 days.

Only my view on things but I bet it will happen.
