I'll agree with the last 2 posts too!!!
I always go to the canal to buy my new watch! If coming from the beach the stall is on the left hand side, about third of the way down... Also bought a few pashmina's from a stall at canal, quite handy for gifts.

I was thinking of getting a pashmino when i get over there, as i am trying to cut down on my luggage with loads of cardys, are they very expensive and do they keep you warm

The pashmina's are quite cheap Sue, I've got one in almost every colour!! They have a few different styles the plain ones are normally cheaper, but I find them a bit bigger and warmer. Think I've paid in the past about 25 lira for 2. They're also great as a nice scarf when you get home!!

I love the pasmina's over there, last year they were 2 for £8 T Towels are great to buy and beach towels, watches, then you pop in one of the many bars for a refreshing Efes after a hard hours shopping

I love the pashminas too, think I got 2 for £10 or £8 last May. Only trouble is there are so many colours and designs it'll take you ages to choose! But they're ideal if it's a bit chilly in the evening.

Towels, tea-towls, children's bath robes are always a good buy on the canal, and there are several shops selling silver jewellery, I've bought some pretty pieces in the past. There are also shops selling shoes, handbags and other leather goods, fake watches and music CDs.

I always buy t-shirts for the grandkids, they are a bit more expensive than the market, but are better quality. Also DVD's, which work out a £1 each - not all of them worked however, and some were in Turkish, but on the whole a lot cheaper than we'd pay over here.

I take my portable dvd player with me now and try them out, if they dont work the stall will swop them, before that there has been many a dvd I have thrown out as it did not work

I wouldnt bother to buy pashminas this year,theres an influx of them everywhere you go abroad,went to Tunisia last November,and Benidorm last month,and they were cheaper in both places!!just as good in quality and choices,and colours and designs.

The first time I went to Icmeler I forgot my magnifying mirror.....omg how do i do my makeup?I toured the place looking for somekind of hand mirror.Along the canal as i was looking a guy asked me what I wanted.He didnt understand but after he asked his wife they realised what it was.He asked if i would call back 21.30.I did and he had got me a lovely compact with normal and magnifying mirror.I also bought a couple of mugs from him....what a star!Where in Britain would anyone take that kind of trouble for you?Everytime we were in the area they greeted us like long lost family.Sadly the last couple of years we didnt see them.The lady was 24 but seriously looked 44...life was hard for them both.So many of the guys over there have been amazing and would make there fortune here because of their customer service skills.

that reminds of the 1st time i went to Turkey,it was Altinkum way back in 1993,there was NO mirror at all in the hotel room, now that's a disaster for 3x 21 year olds Anyway we made great friends in this bar on our 2nd night and they actually gave us a mirror for our room and we took it back to them at the end of the holiday lol

On the last day of our holiday in October, my son saw a sweatshirt he fancied at one of the canal stalls, but they didn't have it in his size. The woman on the stall said she could get one for us the next day, but when we explained we were going home, she told us to wait - made a call on her mobile, and within 10 minutes or so, her son appeared on a moped with the sweatshirt in the right size! Brilliant service - and as someone else has remarked, where would you get service like that in this country!

Yes have brought many dvds from the canal store...taking my dvd player out too,so will come in very handy.

Hehe i love those little statues with placards..that have something written on them,some are quite funny.

But the towels are lovely and i love the little dressing gown type things for babies with ears on arrr cute!!

A regular at our apartments bought some DVDs one year, got home and they didn't work........
he only brought them back the following year to exchange!

The canal is a lovely place to go in an evening, when you,ve been out for a nice meal, and then a stroll up and down the canal . me and sister in law normaly pick up a bargain or two, or three or four.
