Dream job?

Postby flora79 » 18 Apr 2008 14:57

Hi all

I am sitting at my desk thinking about this summer and considering a potential move to Turkey.

I realise that I may never get the job I'm qualified for over there so started daydreaming about what would I do if I could do anything....

My Turkish Dream Job would have to be one of two very different things.

I would love to set up my own school for ex-pats OR on the other hand I would love to sing in the bars and clubs.

What would your dream job be and why???

And no 'I wouldn't do anythings'....... :?

Quite a few girls over there at the moment looking for work as well as one bloke I met.
All trying to live their dreams but some im afraid may have a bit of a nightmare when the money runs out and work is still not forthcoming.

Consider if your going over for the season you cant party and spend as though you are a tourist, this normaly happens the first couple of weeks, the peope are over there get intoxicated with the holiday spirit and seem to forget they went out to look for work and before long the cash has gone.

I'd like to be a culture/travel reporter out there working for a travel mazaginze - you know the kind of thing I'm talking about - stay for free in a hotel (or several) and write a glowing feature..... eat for free at all the nice restaurants and give them a fantastic write up.... drink for free in all the bars and give them a fantastic write-up.... go on all the trips offered by ICR for free in exchange for giving them a good write up (errrrm, certainly no need to do the last one, this forum already does that!!) :D :D

Who said you shouldn't mix business with pleasure?

Mark and I have a Karaoke/Disco business, so I would open a bar (with a Turkish partner of course) and do something similar to Linekers with the oldies music. Would also do a sideline in fancy dress hire, and have theme nights in my bar etc ........ooh,it's nice to dream

Oh, and another thing, I would import "truckloads" of Hollands pies and do "pie and peas" with gravy

My friend & I used to run a breakfast club in our community centre and it was hard work but great fun.
Everybody enjoyed coming for breakfast because besides cooking a good cheap breakfast we used to sing and make then all laugh :D
If I had been younger I would love to have had my own bar/restaurant but there is a lot of competiton in this area.

Another job I would like to have tried would be as a courier/guide organising and taking people to places of interest and speaking knowledgeably about the place.
That must be so enjoyable because people are always interested in stories of the past and of different cultures, I know I am.

We went to Galway a few years ago and the guide made the tour so interesting as did the Turkish guide when we went to Ephesus.

Well I can dream, but will have to make do with being a tourist which aint so bad

I think I must be the only person who wouldn't like to work in Icmeler. I couldn't stand the heat in the summer

Plus thats my angelic little holiday place, my little Icmeler love affair each year. If I lived and worked there it would spoil it all for me.
