Were flying with Monach this year as the other option was Onur Air, anyone flew with them just wondered what the service was like.

Its Monarch we fly with from Edinburgh, never had a problem and touch wood in all the years we've flown with them we have never been delayed.

I have just received my tickets for Zante going in 3 weeks time and flying with Monarch it was booked with ******** who said weight allowance was 15kg. Tickets have 20kg allowance on them :D

Monarch

Postby Jozzyd » 20 Apr 2008 07:46

We flew with them from Manchester last year and had a 9 hour delay. They did try to be helpful they even had security take some passengers out onto the tarmac for a smoke. And we did all get £12.50 each not a lot i know, thankfully we were going and were all excited! Other than the delay there were no other problems. We tend to expect a delay of some sort must be pessimists.

Flew with them last year, plane was old and the seats did not have much leg room or width, staff were not very friendly. Coming back from Dalaman to Manchester had a 9 hour delay, they put the people up who booked with a tour company in hotels, and those people with small kids (which made sense), those of us that were left, seemed to be people who were flight only were brought to a nearby hotel that the airline staff used, there were no rooms available though so we had to try and "rest" in either a hot and stuffy lounge, on whatever sunbeds were around the pool or on the chairs or the marble floor on the terrace at the front of the hotel, we were on the terrace, it was August and the early mornng sun was hot and the midgies were busy, we were given breakfast but if we wanted a drink of juice or pop, we had to pay for it. Little or no info from Monarch during the delay.

We have flown with Monarch before this and found them to be good with plenty of room and little or no delays (our delay was due to a technical fault and another plane was flown over to replace it which was fair enough,it was the way in which our group were treated that we were not happy with). The way the seats were done seemed to be so that they could get as many people on the plane that they could.

So am afraid have gone off Monarch after last years flight, spoilt an otherwise great week in Marmaris!!

Got back from Lanzarote yesterday on a Monarch flight. Bit of a mixed experience, make your own mind up..........

Flights were fine although 30 mins delay on tarmac on the way out ....... Captain reckoned the navigation computer thought the plane was in Turkey and he had to reset it (we wish ha ha)

Three of us got stung 27 Euro in total for excess baggage on way back - very strange cos we'd not bought anything there and all suncreams etc had been used so would've thought cases would be lighter!

Anyway, no TV/videos on return plane - stewardess said it was usually used for shorter trips?!? Mind you, it was an evening flight so we just snoozed all the way home ha ha

Cabin crew were very friendly and planes no more cramped than any others

I've flown with Monarch but not to Dalaman. I found them to be OK.

I think airlines now or all pretty much the same, if you get delayed your unlucky but it could prob happen with any of them. They are all trying to cut back on costs, and unfortuanately sometimes the customer suffers.

Hi Andrea
Thanks :D
I thought it would still be 20kg as my tickets for Zante has that on them.

I could cope with 15kg going there, but I realy need the 20kg for the goodies I bring back from Icmeler.

If your ticket has 20kg on you should be ok. I have just flown with Jet2 to benidorm. They have changed there's to 17kg since I booked, my bag actually weighed 22.5 kg so she tried to charge me for 6kg over, anyway after an arguement she rang customer servis and she was told, that if it was 20kg at the time of booking they have to honour it. I still got charged for being 3kg over though, but better than 6kg.
