hi all last sept my botfriend and myself got bit of a small green fissh, it had an orange tail. It bit us on our ankles as we were paddling, it actually drew blood and left 2 puncture wounds. we asked around about it but no one knew what it was, i have even looked on the net but found nothing. Does anyone have any ideas.

locals call them 'electric fish' they tend to nibble at bites and grazes. they arent that big maybe 3 inches, does make you jump though

Hi All
My 9 year old son got nipped by one of those :x :x (although you would have thought had come face to face with jaws the way he carried on about it  !!!!)

Someone told us if you keep still in the water the fish will come and nip you, so the answer is to just keep moving around and dont stand still for too long.

I don't like going in the sea at icmeler, always feel like something touching my feet, think theres alot of weeds on the bottom. Makes me jump...lol

As said earlier - keep moving when in the sea and the fish don't nip, and thats all it is but it still makes you jump a little. Got nipped quite a lot last year but it doesn't leave any makes and doesn't hurt - much

we had blisters on our feet, from the walk to Marmaris..... went in the sea in Icmeler and the little sods opened up the blisters and made our feet raw. The wounds took ages to heal. Yes, when you are in the sea, keep your feet and legs on the move and they will leave you alone.
Stand still at your peril

if you swim near the laguna hotel, the bottom of the sea there is much better than the rest as in more sand and almost no weeds. i hate them my self so thought you should know this...

Not a real fishy story BUT! Did anyone see any of those big orange caterpillar things that live on the sea bed. I have seen them in Icmeler, Marmaris and Altinkum. About the length of your middlefinger and fatter, got lots on legs either side. I threw one out of the sead edge a couple of years ago,it left like a fibre glass covering over my hand, then my hand swelled up and was itching for a while. It cleared up after about and hour or two. I didn't dare touch one again and hate the thought that they might attack,,,,

21 Mar 2008 13:50

ewww Kath They sound awful!
Am not too keen on paddling with the thought of being nipped - big softy that I am
Much as I love boat trips, if someone says "fish" when am in the water, I go into panic mode

21 Mar 2008 19:35

It is funny watching peoples reaction when they are bitten, I have been bitten loads of times, it has more shock value than anything else

I can remember about 4 years ago, being there with our friends' daughter. We were both in the sea, and were being nibbled by the fish every so often.

Although we were expecting it, if we stood still, it didn't stop us shrieking everytime it happened; the shrieks and then the giggles echoed right round the bay!
