Flight Changes For 2008

Postby molly malone » 10 Dec 2007 13:17

Got a letter from Aegean, to say our flights have been changed for June. We were supposed to be leaving Glasgow at 20.45 now it's 22.55 and the worst part is instead of returning on Saturday at 17.00 we are not leaving Dalaman till the Sunday morning at 06.15. When I called them I was told it's because Onur had changed the size of the aircraft and Aegean have had to put on an extra flight ( XL airways ) so the original flight is still on but will be used for people who have booked a package, so the changes are for the people who have booked flight only.

There will be a lot of changes to flights after the new year as that is when the slot times are usually changed and this happens every year

Yes we received letter this morning with the same changes as Molly. Looking on the positive side it means we get longer in Icmeler. Haven't travelled with XL before, does anyone have any info on this carrier?

We received the letter this morning - although bonus us the May flight the same, but October changed and could cancel with no charge so get my money back (seen as how had booked a different hol and wanted to sell tickets for once working for to my advantage).

Flew with Excel a couple of years ago not to Dalaman but flights on time, and had no complaints.

It's easy for them to say we can cancel and get a refund, because the same flights are now £696 for 2 when we paid £140. Aegean are probably hoping some people will cancel, but while we are not happy at the changes we know we won't get a better price so will just accept it.

Have flown with Excel several times, initially with no probs but got progressively worse (depending how you look at it)..... last flight was 28 hour delay - to be fair that was last year though and after too many hours at Dalaman, we dropped lucky with an overnight stay in Dalyan which was out of this world when we eventually go there, but that's another story

have to admit that we'd paid bargain bucket prices for flights and at least we got another night in Turkey

and the compensation we got went towards this year's hol

Flight Changes For 2008

Postby jivebunnie0 » 11 Dec 2007 22:05

We've flown with XL the last 4 years, with no problems, other than the odd flight change, but usually no more than a couple of hours. Like everyone else, we feel just go with the flow, cos you'll never get anything near the price you paid when you booked.
We never book meals with XL, but for some reason they usually give everyone a meal regardless. Only one comment is that they don't always have a video showing, but I'm not bothered anyway.

We've decided just to go with the changes, not too bad anyway cos get an extra night in Icmeler and at the end of the day we only paid £70 each for them and now they are over £300 each. Was a bit worried cos read that Excel weren't too good but also read that Onur weren't any better so my theory is as long as they get us there safe and sound what does it matter who you fly with. Roll on 7 June!

...and don't think the Edinburgh flight is affected cos we've booked it for 26 August and haven't received a letter and its still the same on Aegean Flights website, whereas the Glasgow one shows the changes made

Aegean have also changed ours from Birmingham to Dalaman, was supposed to be leaving at 08.30 now its 07.30, although we arrive in Dalaman 25 minutes earlier? Then coming back instead of leaving at 05.00 were leaving at 03.50 which in a way is better saves hanging around.

Also received a letter our flight on Monday 18th August from Dalaman to Manchester has changed from 04:30 to 06:30 arriving 09:00, our flight on Friday 1st August is unchanged.

I am quite happy with only 2 hours change, have a room already booked by accident so will put the kids to sleep for a few hours before departing at 02:30

According to the web site flight home from Dalaman is now back to 05:25 arriving Manchester 07:55, flights out from Manchester are now showing as 09:00 on Mondays.

Also noticed they have added an extra night flight on Fridays via First Choice
