My annual piece

Postby redrhino12 » 27 Oct 2007 11:30

The nights are drawing in,the clocks go back on Sunday and the weather is going to get colder.
I have just put the central heating on, switched the gas fire onto mark 7 and made myselfe a cup of coffee and I am curled upon the settee surrounded by our photographs of our holidays in Turkey.

As I look through the photos I have to smile as memories are brought back to life, is that me jumping off the top deck of that boat into the sea? and am I the one dancing on the bar?,
the red eyes must be the flash and nothing to do with the alcohol.
Thank you Mr Kodac for a wonderfull invention.

The resorts will be quiet now,
no more tractor train or roadsweeper.
The mosquitos will all be asleep ,their bellies full of our blood extracted from us while we slept, waiting for us all to return next year.

All the Wasps will be dead by now, killed by all our little children treading on the blighters.
Cockerels will still be crowing in the villages, but no tourist slumbers will he disturb for a while.
My goat lady will still be having a running battle with her flock every day as she tends them through the winter.
All the sunbeds and brollies have all been put away, the cafes along the promenades closed, the sea will still be lapping the shore but no longer will children be giggling and screaming as the fish nibble their toes.
The wind will be blowing through our favourite bars, now stripped of all its sound equipment, decor and furniture, singing and laughing just an echo now among the rafters.
I for one am waiting for the rebirth of all my happy things, wont be long till next May. Pass me some more photos darling.

Gene

ps,
I post this every year to remind you all to put your clocks back on Sunday

Ahhhhhhhh wonderful memories once again....might just keep me going through the dark and dingy winter, longing for the hot sunny days back in my favourite place on earth.

Enjoy your extra hour in bed everyone!

Thanks Gene for that.

I also cannot wait until next August for my fix of Icmeler.

We have thought about going somewhere else, what is the point, you will only compare it to Icmeler.

No resort comes close. Last year we went to Bulgaria in May. Company great, did not like the country or the people. We would not go back. I was so glad that I had Icmeler to look forward to in August and that Bulgaria was not my main holiday.

My three girls have grown up going to Icmeler and look forward to going back each year.

I have to admit I have been to many countries,France,Spain,Orlando in Florida,Rhodes and Cofu in Greece,New York to name but a few and I can honestly say the only place I would keep going back to is Icmeler. Next year will be our 7th year. Why waste money on a holiday that cannot compete to Icmeler.
Janey.

I think most of the people who read these pages are true "Icmelerites"

We all know that Icmeler can never be replaced, just hope she doesnt change to much,(thinking now of the rumoured demolition of Harrys Steak House and the Block of apartments behind),
and being replaced by more apartments and a restaurent.

I like old and rustic,
not shiny new gleaming things, thats why I got our Ann a second hand wedding ring recently,(She had worn the other one away wringing her hands)
This ring is old and rusty and the person who I bought it off wished me the best of luck with my purchase and he said he didnt need it any more because the wife had left him and nipped off with the butcher.

Remember the past but let us all anticipate the future and look foreword to our next years holidays.

What a wonderful voice you have too Gene! Still have the old twinkle in the eye too, or is that just the level of the Efes?
