we have a duplex apartment in the old village, takes quite a while to actually get the turkish equivalent of the deeds as you have to wait for permission from the military which can take up to a year or more, however we were given the keys as soon we had paid, so it makes no real difference to you getting possesion of property as soon as you have paid.
We have turkish friends there and we used a solicitor but would'nt like to think how much harder it would have been without them !
water and electric are much cheaper than the uk. A couple we know who live there permanently say there water bill is usually about 30 lira every 2 months.
when you get the tapu (deeds) through, the water etc has to be switched into your name which usually includes having a new water meter fitted which cost us about £200 but this is obviously a one off payment. There is also a thing called an escan (think thats how its spelt) which you can sign up to which is basically known as a "right to live" which allows you to get electric etc at the ruduced rate the locals pay i believe.
You have to ask about this though as a lot of british people we know there had not heard of it, and it costs the developer money so they dont really go out of their way to let you know about it.
Insurance has cost us about £350 a year which is for buildings, contants and earthquake.
hope this helps.

We have been offered a three bedroom apartment in the middle of
Icmeler to rent at £325per calender month. It is a large apartment with three good size bedrooms and a large living room. It also has access to the roof area for washing etc., Is this a good rate for Icmeler as we about to comit ourselves to moving out there. Any help in regards to our mover would be appreciated.
