Chance to go last week in october

Postby mick00 » 06 Sep 2007 14:14

Anyone been this late in the year, would like to know if most of the bars and resturants are still open, is there still plenty of people there and can you still get a suntan. :?:

Hi Mick
Our first visit to Icmeler 7 years ago was the last 2 weeks in October. It must have been good as we've been back 7 times since, but never as late as this again. It was really hot during the day and we got good tans, the sun is just not as hot for as many hours as the summer. It was sometimes quite cold at night and the only time we have ever had to use blankets on the beds. Most bars and restaurants were open the first week but began to start closing down around us. We found that they often ran out of certain items due to the end of season. We had a fabulous time and made lots of turkish friends (they had more time to talk as it was not too busy)who we still see every time we visit and were even invited to a Turkish wedding which was the best wedding we've ever been to. After 2 disastrous holidays this year (NOT Icmeler) I was hoping to take my mum and my son for the half term week 19/10 but have to have a knee op on the 10th so will have to wait and see if I am fit and mobile enough to manage to go(I really hope so)
I would say go and have a great time, there's so many bars and restaurants that it doesn't matter if they aren't all open, make sure you take warmer clothes for the evening or better still bag yourself some bargains and buy them when you get there.

Thanks for that Shaz, we have managed to get away 12th October, found accomodation to be very cheap but flights are mega expensive, trying Avlu 1 apartments this time. Will post a report when I get back.

Hi Mick

Our first visit to Icmeler was quite a few years ago and that was the second week in October. I agree with shaz150, it was quite hot in the day and a lot cooler at night. We're going back Oct 5th for our 2nd visit this year, just can't get enough of a good thing eh! Anyway, have a few Efes in the evening when it cools down and you'll never notice !!!!

I went on 30 October last year & although it was sunny some days it was pretty cold. Mainly there was torrential rain & the storms woke me during the night! Think the weather had been ok up until then so fingers crossed for you.

Stomp, no the beach won't be packed........but you can watch the resort close for the season!! We went for a week from 23/10 in 2005 and had a ball, we were sunbathing while the beach lads were taking the beds and brollies away for winter and they were kind enough to leave 4 beds at the water's edge just for us!!!!!!!!!
We had a gr8 time, am sure you will too - can get V chilly in the evenings so take some pullies with you for night
