Mozzie Bites and avoiding them

Postby Gill1452 » 17 Aug 2007 10:04

Hiya,

My hubby has been bitten recently in this country and has had a really bad reaction, his foot ballooned and he couldn't walk on it for a few days. He's had a couple more smaller bites since but seems to be reacting badly all of a sudden.

Can anyone suggest any medications he could take before we go to Icmeler in three weeks time and also what sort of repellents are the best to use whilst we are there?

Cheers

Gill

Hi Gill,

My daughter always gets bitten! She takes some hay fever (or any anti-histamine) with her, this seems to help. We buy the lemon lotion in resort and that works as well as any repellent. I know you can buy fancy things now like a bracelet and loads of zapping things. We've found something that works great once bitten - blister plasters. We take loads - try superdrug or even poundland to stock up. They draw out the bite, reduce the redness and ease the swelling. We've used these without anti-histamines and they've done the trick.

Hi there!
Not having had the "joy" of being bitten by a mosquito I cant really comment.
However there is a thread on here called "Mosquitos" It is currently on page 7. Have a wee look at that for some helpful mossie avoiding advice!

Good luck!

I have never been bitten int this country untill this year and i have laods of bites  Tried loads of things but can't stop the itching, found a small tube of antihistimine cream in Wilkies that isn't too bad.

Always used to used iodine pens but can't seem to find them any more?

I always take Vitamin B for a month before I go and whilst I am there and seems to work for me,if I do get a bite its not too bad.

Thanks for all your replies, I think we'll just have to try a few different things and see which one works the best. I'll probably end up with more mozzie medicines in my suitcase than anything else.

The lemon stuff sounds like it may be a winner, I'll get some when I get to Icmeler.

this year is the first year I did not get bitten. I took Vitamin B before I went for about three weeks and every evening whilst in Icmeler, I would spray my legs with the lemon spray. It was always only my legs I was bitten.

Oh and did you know the lemon spray is a fab stain remover !!!

Skin so soft

Postby archieb » 19 Aug 2007 20:08

Hi all,

I can categorically say that Avon skin so soft works. I was bitten badly a few years ago in Alcudia and also have a bad reaction to them. I have used skin so soft since then and have never been bitten since. My wife normally just takes a bottle that does us for the week.

Regards,

Archie
