Walking from Icmeler to Marmaris

Postby bellabella » 02 Aug 2007 13:13

Hi Guys

I've never actually walked from Icmeler to Marmaris along the seaside. Can I ask you all - is it hilly? Is it lit? Is there a path the whole way or do I have to dodge potholes etc? Finally, is it worth the effort?

Ta very much - heading out on August 24th [/b]

We have walked to Marmaris many times via beach path and its well worth it.We took a bottle of water to drink along the way but there are plenty of places enroute to stop and have a drink. It is not at all hilly.

Took the coastal path from Icmeler to Marmaris on day 1 last year, and I think we only travelled the route by dolmus only once throughout the whole week!

Realastically takes about 45mins at a steady strolling pace and as already mentioned, there are plenty of stop off points and benches along the way.

As long as you have comfy footwear and are prepared for a few blisters (or 'white bits' if you're wearing sandals) then it's well worth it.

At night, it is fairly well lit, and I remember there being some amazing sights looking over the water to see the stars and moon reflecting in the sea.

Maybe wouldn't advise walking alone at night as it can be fairly quiet in terms of not many other people around, but is alot cooler at night and is very relaxing.

Enjoy!

Is there an alternative walk to Marmaris other than the main road (dolmus route). I dont recall seeing to many watering holes from the bus.
